Trojans humble overrated Buckeyes 35-3

Every year i count down the days before week one of college football begins, starting the day following the BCS national championship game.  Ever since i can remember i have watched and loved college football and ever since i can remember i have been a die hard Michigan Wolverine fan.  Besides the fact that Ohio State has beat Michigan four years running-and soon to be 5-the worst part about being a Michigan fan is hearing the garbage preseason reviews hailing the Buckeyes and calling them a lock for another national championship game appearance.  It amazes me how we can see Ohio State(and what was supposed to be their best team ever) in 2006 get completely embarrassed in the national title game by Florida, have the same thing happen again in 2007 at the hands of LSU, and yet for the last two weeks heading up to week one all i heard was Ohio State will be undefeated and on their way to the championship game. 

I understand that the buckeyes have 20 returning starters, and like always a top notch recruiting class, but aren't these the same 20 starters who lost 38-24 to LSU last year?  Lets not forget that night the Buckeyes made only two solid touchdown drives, in the first and third quarter, plus a last third hail mary in the fourth for another touch.  The only legitimate reasoning any person could have for expecting an undefeated championship is the lack of talent on the Buckeye's schedule.  Youngstown State at home, Ohio University at home.  Don't worry it gets better.  Troy at home, Minnesota at home, Purdue at home.  Troy at home?! Anything besides a fifty point blowout should mean the electric chair for Jim Tressel.  Can somebody please tell this guy to go a size up in his Baby Gap sweater vests?  He is lucky the bucks could scrape their way past Ohio with the tips of their teeth or there would have been a U-Haul in his driveway and a noose in his tree.  The only thing keeping Mr. Sweatervest from getting canned is his record against Michigan.  Every other big game he is out-coached and spanked.  If he doesn't win his bowl game this year you can expect the University to do something about it. 

Yes, they will beat Michigan this year, and maybe next, but as we have seen repeatedly the way to beat the Buckeyes is with speed, and what runs faster than a spread offense?  Give Rich Rodriguez a year or two to recruit some play makers, like he did at West Virginia, and Michigan will be putting the pounding on a new Ohio State coach.  The only thing holding Ohio State from another BCS embarrassment are what will be another challenge at Wisconsin and a trap game at Illinois.  I can only hope for the worst.
