What Are You Doing Out Of The Kitchen? Football Is a Mans Game!
Oh Andy....Andy Andy Andy....sigh..What a naughty boy you have been.
Looks like Andy Gray has yet to grow up. Here is a well respected ex-footballer who turned football pundit for Sky television, in a well paid and well respected position. The only person who forgot to respect himself and others around him was Andy Gray himself. Well, there was another one but he got away—Richard Keys. But I am sure Richard will experience a number of difficulties in the coming weeks and months because of his comments. I will come back to him in a moment.
Andy is the typical male chauvanist from an era crowded with sexism and fascism. An era when men ruled and women stayed at home cooking, cleaning and looking after kids. How dare they come to our football pitch and...and...get those off side calls correct. How dare she destroy our game!
If you have not heard about the comments made by Richard Keys and Andy Gray, here is a quick reminder:
Gray: "Why is there a female linesman? Sombody's f****ed up big. Women don't know the offside rule."
Keys: "I can guarantee you there'll be a big one today. Kenny [Dalglish] will go potty."
Keys later added: "See charming Karen Brady this morning complaining about sexism? Yeah. Do me a favour, love."
Soon after other videos emerged of Gray, with one where he asks his famale colleague to "tuck (his shirt) it in". It may all be good banter between the two but the videos show the continuity of his sexism. Today, soon after these videos emerged, Gray was sacked, rightfully, in my opinion. To make matters worse for himself, it was reported on the news that he is seeking advice from his lawyers about unfair dismissal. Being from the era he is, seems like Gray does not see anything wrong in his actions.
Now that we have got rid of the Gray matter, Richard Keys should get a mention. He was equally as bad in his comments, if not, worse. I assume there are two reasons why he has managed to maintain his job at Sky. He has apologised to the lady in question, and no further videos/audios of him emerged. However, there are calls for Keys to be sacked. His position is not yet completely safe.
Does Richard Keys deserve to keep his job? Is it fair that only Gray got the sack?
