Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers Top Super Bowl Props Plus Basketball Pick ATS

Joe DuffyJan 25, 2011

Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers props top the first wave of Super Bowl XLV proposition odds.

Among the more interesting bets is that the bookmakers have Rodgers at -41.5 gross passing yards over the Steelers QB. The Packers are holding steady as two- to 2.5-point favorites with the total a solid 44.5.

Now to today’s free pick from one of the best sports handicappers in the world, Matt Rivers, on the Georgia Bulldogs (-2.5) hosting Florida.

Florida has certainly been the better basketball team when compared to Georgia over the years and it may still be the case now, but to be honest, I’m not all that sure if it really is.

Billy Donovan has an experienced team now after a few years of having a young team and things are all right down in Gainesville, but this team is far from the ones led by Horford, Noah and Brewer. UF is a borderline Top-25 squad that could make the Sweet 16 if things fall right, but it’s not a team that is filled with blue-chip stars.

Guys like Macklin, Parsons and Walker are indeed solid and far from taking a backseat just yet to the Bulldogs, but at Stegman Coliseum with a small price, I am all about the home Dawgs.

Mark Fox has really done a great job since coming to Athens last season. The program was no longer much of anything after the Jim Harrick scandals and the Dennis Felton garbage but almost instantaneously Fox came over from Nevada and changed the culture in a big-time way.

There are still steps that need to be taken, but Trey Thompkins is a future NBA player and guys like Travis Leslie, Gerald Robinson, Dustin Ware and Jeremy Price form a team that is on the move and pretty darn solid.

Georgia busted into the Top 25 last week after upsetting Kentucky and besides the loss at home to Tennessee, which is still a solid team, has really been playing some great ball. Before the loss to the Volunteers they whacked Ole Miss in Oxford and in that last game just fully outclassed Mississippi State, 86-64.

I still think that the oddsmaker is a little behind on the Dawgs, and after 40 minutes today, we’ll see another UGA win and cover.

Top expert pick on this game: Georgia Bulldogs from Matt Rivers
