The Big Buildup: Auburn to Clash with LSU
For those of you outside the Birmingham news area, or who are not aware of Charles Goldberg, I thought I would share a post from his blog with you. It's kind of interesting, unless your an LSU fan. I hope Les Miles is correct in his observation about Tommy Tuberville and the lack of offense by the Auburn Tigers. We shall all know by the last tick of the clock Saturday night.
The big buildup
AUBURN—Les Miles looked at Auburn's 3-2 win over Mississippi State last Saturday and surmised Auburn has a tough defense and that Tommy Tuberville has something up his sleeve.
"I think he held down some of the options that he had," the LSU coach said Monday.
"Maybe," Miles added, Tuberville didn't "show everything that he has."
Like more touchdowns? Like fewer penalties? Like fewer turnovers?
While praising Mississippi State, Miles said Tuberville played conservative football once it was apparent the Bulldogs would have a hard time scoring, or at least a hard time scoring on their own.
Auburn fans hope Miles is right about Tuberville and that Auburn's offense will come alive. That may be needed when No. 6 and defensive-minded LSU visits No. 10 and equally defensive-minded Auburn at 6:45 p.m. Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium for a game that could go a long way in deciding who wins the SEC West.
