20 Fantasy Football Studs and Duds | Week Two
September 16, 2008
With some shootouts in the NFL we had some people tear up the Stud team this week. The Dud team has some high fantasy football draft picks starting this week. Let’s have a look at this weeks Top Dogs and the Dogs that laid down, including Individual Defensive Players (IDP).

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
TEAM STUD
Offense
QB: Jay Cutler*, Denver Broncos
Yeah, that’s right. “*”. Cutler got some extra fantasy points with that bonus TD and two pointer. Taking that away he still would have been one of the top QB’s for the week, but not top dog. The shoot out with the Chargers was a fantasy fest as you will see in the rest of Team Stud this week.
RB: Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles
Even when everyone knows Westy is going to get the ball he throws up awesome numbers. Once again a good chunk of the damage comes in the air with six catches and then more points by running in two TD’s. As I watched the game I was thinking how some people argued that he was not the #2 fantasy RB like he was mentioned in a lot of places. They were right, right now he just may be #1.
RB: Marion Barber III, Dallas Cowboys
In his first start on Monday Night as “THE MAN” Barber’s numbers looked a lot like Brian Westbrook’s game stats. A TD on the ground and in the air, yards were balanced for both. A bad pass by Tony Romo could have tacked on more yards in a big pass play had it been on target.
WR: Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals
Boldin makes a statement against Miami. Six grabs for 140 yards and THREE TD’s! What are the Cardinals going to do about that contract? They can’t pay him like Fitz but he is out playing Fitz. Owners that grabbed Boldin later on are getting a treat right now.
WR: Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos
18 grabs equals the second highest in a game in NFL history. It had to bite watching Eddie Royal week one for Marshall owners but they got theirs back in week two and can look forward to being Jay Cutler’s favorite WR again.
TE: Tony Scheffler, Denver Broncos
How crazy is it that two weeks into the season Scheffler is the top scoring fantasy TE? What a bonus late round pick he has turned out to be. It may not keep up but owners enjoyed winning the TE matchup in their game if they started him this week.
DT/ST: New York Giants
They were playing the rams after all but the Giants are carving their way out as one of the top defensive fantasy teams of the season so far.
Individual Defensive Players
LB: Jonathan Vilma, New Orleans Saints
Vilma had a game for the Saints that they were looking for when they traded for him. 10 tackles, 6 assists and a pass defensed. His numbers could continue to be so high if he has to do everthing on the New Orleans defense.
DB: Quinten Jammer, San Diego Chargers
Jammer’s numbers looked a lot like Vilma’s this week, only he added a forced fumble. That is awesome for a CB, especially one that was not likely your #1 defensive back. BONUS!
DL: Justin Tuck, New York Giants
The big bonus for your IDP defensive lineman is when he can haul in an INT and take it back for a TD. Tuck did just that this week. He is taking the opportinity of being the man on the New York Giants line to heart. Good work for whoever snatched him up in Dynasty leagues a couple years back.
