WWE: The 5 Worst Men on the Mic

Joe SchmoJan 21, 2011

This is my first ever article for Bleacher Report and I figured what better way for the readers to become familiar with me than to start off with some top/worst slideshows.

My next article will include the top 5 men on the mic.  This list is going to encompass the five WWE Superstars who I feel are the worst on the mic.

Let me preface this by saying that the list really only includes wrestlers who are given mic time, not those who are not given mic time (ex. Mark Henry).  These are the Superstars that make me groan and turn the channel when I see them arrive with a mic in their hand.

Honorable Mention: Heath Slater

1 of 6

Good god this guy is brutal.  Luckily he doesn’t get much mic time as his personality is pretty much buried by Nexus.  For this reason he is just an honorable mention.

5. Kofi Kingston

2 of 6

Another guy who doesn’t get much mic time but he is pretty painful to listen to when he does talk.

He was drastically outshined by Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger during their three-way promo and has trouble grasping a personality.  The announcers keep talking about how he has become more aggressive and intense, but Kofi has not shown this at any point when he has the opportunity.

4. Drew Mcintyre

3 of 6

I’m not sure if this is just because of his accent or not.

There are other superstars with accents who are very good on the mic (Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus) so I’m going to say it’s just him.  He seems to stumble through words and sentences and it’s not funny or intimidating.  It’s really nothing but boring.  His recent skits with Kelly Kelly have been just awful to watch.

3. John Morrison

4 of 6

This is most likely the reason Morrison has been kept out of the spotlight and not really given much of a chance to main event.  He is a hell of a wrestler but is awful on the mic.  He lacks sincerity in his promos and comes off as sort of goofy.  This was glaring in his feud with Sheamus and Miz as his opponents single-handedly carried the story-telling aspect of the feud.

2. Edge

5 of 6

I am sorry Bleacher Creatures, but Edge is just plain bad on the mic.  He may not necessarily be worse than Kofi or Morrison but he is given much more mic time and it is just painful to watch.  He lacks any sense of timing that guys like CM Punk and Chris Jericho have mastered.

He is another guy that seriously lacks sincerity in his speeches.  His lac of mic skills was extremely apparent in his promo with Miz and Alex Riley.  Miz and Riley carried the promo and displayed dominance in timing and personality.  His promos that involve mic time never seem to add anything to his character.  Luckily for him his actions speak much louder than his words.

1. R-Truth

6 of 6

Do I really need to explain why?  There are few things I enjoy more than hearing Michael Cole make fun of R-Truth.

From his inaudible “ashjdnejka dehua dheualksjd WHAT’S UP!” rap to just his awful character, he is terrible to listen to.  On a scale of 1-10, how bad was his short talk before his match against Alberto Del Rio? Negative two?  It was comical how bad it was.  In Edge’s case his promos don’t add to his character.  R-Truth’s promos may actually add to his character.  Add to the awfulness that is.
