Quick Champions League Predictions: Match Day 1

Here is my quick rundown of predictions for the first match day of Champions League:

Group A

Chelsea vs. Bordeaux — The Blues will be way too much for the French side to handle.

Prediction: 2-0

Roma vs. CFR Cluj-Napoca — Roma is a team that has a lot to prove in this tournament and they will start off on the right foot.

Prediction: 3-0

Group B

Panathinaikos vs. Inter Milan — Milan is probably the better side in this matchup but being the home team is a great equalizer.

Prediction: 1-1

Werder Breman vs. Anorthosis Famagusta — Breman has the talent to go far in thei tournament but so far this season they have not looked nearly as good as many people expected.  They will get a win here though.

Prediction: 1-0

Group C

FC Basel vs. Shakhtar Donetsk — Basel is a much underappreciated team that will play a role in the outcome in Group C.

Prediction: 2-1

Barcelona vs. Sporting Lisbon — What may seem like a complete mismatch is going to be a very tight game due to Barcalona's complete lack of confidence. Sporting will have a chance to win this match.

Prediction: 2-2

Group D

Marseille vs. Liverpool — Liverpool is a team built for the Champions League and they will prove it here.

Prediction: 0-1

PSV Eindhoven vs. Atletico Madrid — Atletico has a very talented team that is disconcerting hot and cold.  They will be hot today.

Prediction: 1-3
