WWE--Title Analysis
World Heavyweight Title: With injuries to Randy Orton and John Cena, Chris Jericho is shouldering the load for Raw. Now there’s no better worker in WWE at the moment than Jericho (HBK fans can spam me later) coupled with his charisma and there’s no better choice to be the top heel on Raw for a while. While I’m a big CM Punk fan it would be nice to see Jericho with the strap for a few months.
WWE Title: What can you say about Triple H that hasn’t been said already? Fans and wrestlers alike loathe his backstage presence but there’s no doubting that he’s one of the best complete superstars of all-time. I’m anxious to see if Vince puts the strap on Jeff Hardy, if only for a moment. That prospect was teased at the end of last year and got a warm response from the fans. Unfortunately Hardy’s suspension put a halt on his push but it looks like he that won’t be the case this time. I look for Triple H to finally put Hardy over at the next PPV. Hardy may only have the strap for a brief time but the fans would appreciate it.
ECW Title: Matt Hardy has developed from being the “other guy” in the Hardy Boys to a top worker. His ECW title run could be a long one given the lack of star power on ECW. His interview skills are a bit lacking but with the right opponent he’s capable of tearing the roof of any given arena. I’d love to see a Matt Hardy v. John Morrison feud. It’s nice to see that after Matt’s personal problems were made public and after his appendix burst he’s getting a chance to shine.
IC and US Titles: I lump these two together because I’m disappointed in the fact that earning these belts means little these days. Once they were a stepping stone to the WWE title but now they feel like ornaments, symbols of past glory. Shelton Benjamin is very athletic but has very little charisma. While I like the direction Santino’s character has taken he’s hardly worthy of any belt at this time. The WWE has enough talent to restore the pride in these belts all they have to do is turn their attention to it.
WWE Tag Titles: Hawkins and Ryder have been rewarded for being Edge’s flunkies with gold of their own. Only one problem; there’s no tag competition on Smackdown. I can’t even say that these guys are good workers because I haven’t seen them do more than squash or be squashed.
World Tag Titles: DiBiase and Rhodes have a similar problem on Raw with the lack of tag teams, other than Cryme Tyme, and seem to be remaining idle after they got the gold. It’s frustrating to see these two, along with Hawkins and Ryder, sit on the sidelines waiting to be split up and do something as singles wrestlers.
Women’s Title: I’m a big Beth Phoenix fan. The women’s division on Raw has potential to be very entertaining. With the likes of Mickie James, Beth Phoenix and Melina (when she returns from injury) there’s the potential for quality women’s matches. It’s been no secret that Vince has wanted to pull back on the blatant sex appeal of the Women’s division. Meaning, for the moment at least, no bikini, mud wrestling, pillow fight or other T&A segments on WWE programming. Since that’s the case, let’s see these chicks go at it.
Diva’s Title: First of all, I think the title belt itself is ugly. That being said Smackdown has the same potential for quality women’s matches as Raw. Victoria, Maryse, Neidhart and new faces like Brie Bella all seem like their ready to put on ongoing programs for the title. It’s all up to Vince to give the go ahead. Oh and I don’t see a reason, other than the fact that she’s green, why Natalya Neidhart doesn’t have the belt.
Wrestlers I’d like to see get pushes: It seems like MVP has done a lot of jobbing since coming back from injury. It’d like to see him put on a program with someone that led to gold or at least a title shot.
John Morrison: This guy has everything necessary to make it big in the WWE. Athleticism, mic skills, a great look, you name it. The program he had with CM Punk was the highlight of ECW’s short life on Sci-Fi. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot. Hopefully.
