Just Another Weekend In Tuscaloosa And So Much More
Football season...three to four months out of the year that you have the opportunity to go to a game and smell the amazing spells of a football game (if you were lucky enough to have someone sit beside you that put on deodorant before making that two mile hike to their seat). Those three to four months that you get to go and meet new people and just relax. This time only comes once a year and it seems like it is already coming to an end.
I am one of those girls that goes to every Alabama football game she can. I love the sport and more than that I love the people that I get to meet and the things I get to experience. Because of school and band and working this past weekend's game against Western Kentucky was the first Alabama football game I've been able to attend this season. Although sick it couldn't have been a better weekend.
While at the game we met many new people while tailgating and at the game. There were jokes said and comments made about the game and of course talk about the future of our favorite football team. I've always loved Tuscaloosa. The atmosphere and the people can't be compared to that of anywhere else.
As I watched and got to know the people around me and as we all started sharing tidbits of who we were and where we were from I realized how close of a tight knit family we all are. We might all have different opinions when it comes to politics and family but we all come together to watch our favorite team play. We are all there to support them and to support one another.
We were sitting in front of two little boys that would cheer and laugh and try and scare us. The whole game we were teaching them about the game which brought back memories of my dad and I going to the games together when I was little.
We passed several older couples that had been married for over 30 years and they said the thing that kept them together was their love for each other and their love for Alabama football.
We then talked to a guy that said "We've had season tickets for seven years and we've always been "ALA" in the cheer. Couldn't they change it up a bit?" There were so many laughs and times to reflect on games in the past. Seasons that came and went in an instant.
This is college football season. It's only here for a short time during the year. We look forward to the season starting for nine months and it never seems to last long enough.
