Green Bay Packers: 5 NFC Championship Over/Under Predictions

John RozumJun 7, 2018

Anyone who rocks an old school Ray Nitschke jersey on the road gets some exposure in my world.

So Packer fans, a rematch against your biggest rival (and the NFL's oldest rivalry) in the NFC Championship game.

For starters, I find it hard to believe throughout the course of the Packers-Bears rivalry, this will only be the second meeting between the two in postseason history.

The first meeting dating back to December 14th, 1941. A game in which Chicago won 33-14.

Well, for next week's conference championship game, I fully expect a much better showing from the cheese.

Therefore, here are five over/under predictions to keep an eye on.

1. Over/Under 250 Passing Yards for Aaron Rodgers

Currently, the Bears allow an average of 224 yards per game, ranking them 20th in the NFL.

Green Bay averages 257 passing yards per game, ranking them fifth in the league.

In the first meeting, Aaron Rodgers threw for over 300 yards in the Monday night loss back in September.

Then, to solidify a postseason appearance, the cheese won a defensive barn burner where Rodgers managed to amass 229 yards and throw the games' only TD.

The strength of Chicago's defense is the front seven with Peppers, Idonije, Urlacher and Briggs.

An even though the weakness is the secondary, they still managed to pick off Rodgers once in each game this season.

However, Rodgers and the offense are arguably playing their best football right now; Especially with the thwomping they put on No. 1 seed Atlanta in the divisional round.

PREDICTION: Over 250 passing yards

2. Over/Under 1.5 Interceptions for Tramon Williams

Led the Packers with six picks throughout the regular season and has three through two playoff games.

Took one from Mike Vick in the Wild Card Round and two from Matt Ryan last Saturday (including taking one back the house 70 yards in the Georgia Dome).

On the downside, Williams was unable to pick off Cutler in either of the two regular season matchups, however Cutler was picked off a combined three times from the cheese in those two games.

For the regular season, Cutler did throw 16 picks, thus averaging one per game. But zero versus Seattle last Saturday.

PREDICTION: Under 1.5 interceptions

3. Over/Under 4.5 Sacks for the Defense

On the year, the Packer defense amassed 47 sacks ranking them second only to Pittsburgh in the league.

In the postseason, Green Bay has totaled eight sacks through two games, putting them one behind Baltimore (now eliminated).

Revert back to the first meeting at Soldier Field and Jay Cutler went down three times.

Then only just a few weeks ago, the cheese sacked Cutler six times, which helped solidify a playoff spot.

PREDICTION: Over 4.5 sacks

I'm not going to lie, I had no idea who James Starks was prior to the Packers-Eagles Wild Card Game.

And for the non-Packers fans that say they saw this guy coming...Lies.

He's a great story for the postseason, and if you look at all the injuries the Pack have had in the backfield, Starks is a taking full advantage of his opportunities.

189 yards through two playoff games on 48 attempts.

But the Bears run defense ranks second in the NFL in allowing only 90 yards per game; And allowed only 34 yards to the Seahawks in the divisional round.

PREDICTION: Under 100 Yards rushing

5. Over/Under 2.5 TD Passes All to Different WRs

Through two playoff games, Rodgers has thrown a total of six TDs to five different receivers.

Also throughout the regular season, Rodgers threw eight multi touchdown games and totaled 28 on the year.

Against the Bears however, Rodgers only was able to throw one TD in each of two regular season games.

Come Sunday, you have to fully expect the Bears D to come even more prepared than before.

Counter-intuitive to that, the Packers' O is flying high after scoring five TDs against the Falcons.

PREDICTION: Over 2.5 TD passes all to different WRs
