Blood On The Ice: 10 Most Infamous NHL Moments (Graphic Video!)

Jun 3, 2018

As an NHL fan, certain moments stick with you for your whole life.

Everything you've ever done as a hockey player and everything you have seen as a fan in the seats or at home makes up who you are as a NHL fan.

Some things are positive, your first goal as a kid, your folks faces when you know they're proud, or when your team takes the Cup.

Others scar you for life and make you feel uncomfortable whenever the footage is shown.

The following list is of my 10 top most infamous NHL moments.

Enjoy!

Tie Domi Vs. Flyers Fan

1 of 11

Any time a fan and a player get into an altercation it’s not good.

Leave it to a Flyers fan to try to fight enforcer Tie Domi.  It is rumored that Domi still takes the man out every once in a while.

This is one of those moments that just really embarrasses you as an NHL fan, especially from Philly.

Steve Downie and Jesse Boulerice In 2007-2008

2 of 11

Within two seasons, these players made the Flyers organization look so bad.

Steve Downie's hit on Dean McAmmond got him suspended for 20 games.

Jesse Boulerice cross checked Canucks forward Ryan Kesler in the face, drawing a 25 game suspension.

It was a hard time to be a Flyers fan, having to defend these senseless actions.

Brett Hull Goal

3 of 11

This goal is probably the most infamous of them all.

No goal polarized the hockey world like Brett Hull's game winning goal to clinch the Stanley Cup in 1999.

It should have never been a goal because at the time, Hull’s foot was in the crease.  It is obvious and so is Lindey Ruff’s displeasure with the decision.

Buffalo is still pissed.

Dale Hunter's cheapshot on Pierre Turgeon

4 of 11

Dale Hunter was a dirty player before this play but this play was out of control.

This hit on Turgeon was so cheap that Hunter was suspended 21 games for the incident.

It is still one of the longest suspensions and was one of the worst moments I ever saw.  This is the definition of sore loser.

Chris Simon

5 of 11

Two separate incidents make up Chrism Simon's spot on this list.

Besides the video shown of Ryan Hollweg getting slashed in the face, Simon has done some bad things.

Simon has been suspended eight times and does not play in the NHL anymore.  He also stomps people.

Thank your lucky stars NHL players.

The Marty McSorely Incident

6 of 11

This moment happened so fast that I didn’t know what had happened.

It wasn't until the replay showed the incident and we saw Brashear convulsing that we realized the severity of the situation.

McSorley crossed the line big time and never played in the NHL again.

Good.

Richard Zednik Gets Cut

Look at the blood trail!

AHHHHHHHHHH!

The Todd Bertuzzi Incident

8 of 11

This is one of the darkest moments in NHL history.

I don't believe Bertuzzi ever meant to hurt him the way he did but that moment will always define Todd Bertuzzi.

The incident was growing the whole game after a hit by Moore on Markus Naslund but no one saw what was to come.

The Maurice Richard Riots

9 of 11

The video will teach you about how hockey used to be.  Enjoy!

Clint Malarchuk's Throat Slit

10 of 11

I have nothing to say but Thank God he survived!

Intersting side note: The man who comes in and squeezes Malarchuk's throat was a medic in Vietnam and saved his life.
