Top 5 MMA Fights I Would Like To See
So I'm kind of getting tired of reading people's top fights they would like to see in the MMA world—a lot of them are ridiculous.
I think just last week i read one that said he wanted BJ Penn to fight Randy Couture.
Yes, that would be a good fight, realistic though? No.
So this is my Top 5 Realistic Fights in MMA that I would like to see.
1. Randy "The Natural" Couture vs. Fedor "The Last Emperor" Emelianenko
Now, honestly, who DOESN'T want to see this fight?
Just last week it was announced Randy was comin back to the UFC with a new three fight contract, his first opponent being Brock Lesnar, then, HOPEFULLY, his second will be Fedor.
Personally, I don't ever see this fight happening. UFC is strictly exclusive, and Fedor demands so much money—not to mention his deal with Affliction compromises everything.
Before Randy retires, I wish to see this fight. I believe Randy to be the best Heavyweight in the world, Fedor second.
Win or loss against Fedor, Randy will always be the best Heavyweight in the world in my book simply because Randy is 45, and is fighting like he's 28.
2. Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra
We all know this fight is coming, whether it be the end of this year, or early next year.
Ever since their stint on The Ultimate Fighter, these two have talked nothing but shit to each other and its time for this feud to come to an end. Matt Hughes is obviously on the back stretch of his career, but he refuses to retire until he fights Matt Serra.
Serra recently stated in an interview that he thought he was a bad match-up against Matt Hughes because he is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He said that his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will be too much for Matt Hughes to handle.
My question is, didn't they say the same exact thing when Matt Hughes fought legendary Royce Gracie? Hmm...
3. Urijah Faber vs. BJ Penn
In a recent interview Urijah Faber stated he's looking for some huge fights. He's clearly dominated the WEC Featherweight division and he wants bigger fights.
He mentioned he would like to fight BJ Penn. I think that is an AMAZING idea. Urijah has the body of a Greek God, I'm sure 10 more lbs will not hurt his fighting ability at all.
I honestly want to see this more than BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre, with his ground game as amazing as it is and his striking improving each fight (for ex: his fight with Jens Pulver), this could be an amazing fight.
Not to mention his cardio would play a component in fighting BJ, we could actually see how far BJ's cardio has improved and see if he can go five rounds with the "California Kid."
4. Rich Franklin vs. Lyoto Machida
This would be a great redemption match for Rich Franklin. Rich is currently 24-3 in his MMA career, 2 losses coming from Anderson Silva, one coming from Lyoto Macida.
Obvioulsy both fighters have evolved way past what they were when they first met in Japan. I'm curious to see who has evolved into the better fighter.
Lyoto trains with Anderson Silva, who obviously has Rich Franklin's number, but I don't think Lyoto can knock Rich Franklin out again.
Rich has turned into a much smarter fighter, picking apart his opponents, and Lyoto... well Lyoto, from what i've seen, is still the same, "stay out of the pocket, then strike" fighter he's always been.
5. Randy Couture VS Forrest Griffin
This, I wouldn't count as reasonable, being that Randy probably only has a year left in him for fighting. But man, THIS WOULD BE A DREAM BOUT.
Forrest Griffin has evolved into a spectacular fighter, not to mention, is the Current UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion of the world.
While Randy is the Current UFC Heavyweight Champion of the world, it wouldn't be too unreasonable though being that Randy is a former Light-Heavyweight champion.
Everyone knows Forrest can take a punch, and he's not too bad on the ground either.
Everyone also knows Randy can throw a punch, and be amazing on the ground.
I get goosebumps even thinking about what kind of fight this could potentionally be. Champ vs. Champ, student vs. the opposing teams coach, ohhh the possibilities.
Honorable Mentions
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva (Wanderlei currently has two wins over Rampage but other than hardcore fans, no one has seen them)
Shawn Sherk vs. Urijah Faber
Rashad Evans vs. Lyoto Machida
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Brock Lesnar
