TNA IMPACT! Slamback: Bow Down To The King!

Ron JohnsonSep 12, 2008

TNA continues to cross the line, and this Sunday, they will take center stage. After a controversial pay per view courtesy of WWE, TNA looks to take the lead in the September to Remember Challenge. With that said, they made one last stop on their road to Canada and NO SURRENDER. Here's a look back at last night's TNA IMPACT!

Beauty isn't just skin deep

The Beautiful People held their first (hopefully not last) Beautiful Person Challengen a preview of this Sunday's TNA Knockout Championship Match, Angelina Love faced Taylor Wilde in three challenges over the course of the night: An Evening Gown Contest, A Swimsuit Competition and a Talent Showdown. And the judges: The Prince Justice Brotherhood (Shark Boy, Curry Man & Super Eric)

Wilde won overwhelmingly in the evening gown event as the crowd was not impressed by the pale dress of Love. Curry Man, however, was completely fixated on the sex appeal of Love. Despite the loss, Love came back with a vengeance as she used that sex appeal to woo the duo of Shark Boy and Curry Man. Super Eric however was not impressed and continued to show his support for the Knockouts Champion.

In the final event of TBP Beauty Pageant, it was a Talent Competition. TBP delivered a medicore Oral Presentation. From bad jokes to a rendition of "There Once Was A Man From Nantucket," TBP ended their presentation by pulling their best impression Jillian Hall Impression. Taylor Wilde on the other hand showed her musical skills by dishing out a solo on the drums. In the end, the Prince Justice Brotherhood decided unanimously that Taylor Wilde won the Pageant.

But TBP decided to assault the Knockouts Champion and stop the PJB from rescuing. But the three of them booked when the War Machine Rhino sprinted to the ring. Expect either this Sunday or next week on IMPACT! for Cute Kip and Rhino to collide.

Kong Brawls; ODB Brawls Harder

Awesome Kong accepted the challenge of ODB for an All Bets Off Match at No Surrender. So to help prepare for that bout, Kong was looking for payback against Roxxi in a Knockouts Bimbo Brawl. Despite a galliant effort from Roxxi, we saw a Knockout get bloodied for the first time ever in TNA. Kong picked up the win, but apparently wasn't satisfied with just a victory.

As Kong prepared to deliver another Awesome Bomb onto a bloodied Roxxi, ODB raced down to the ring to confront her No Surrender opponent only to get cut off by referee Slick Johnson. As Kong slithered out of the ring, ODB took her frustration out on the closest body to her...which turned out to be Slick Johnson!

UFC crosses the line with TNA

Over the past few months, Frank Trigg has been a thorn in the side of AJ Styles. After several run-ins with the UFC scab, Styles had finally had enough of Trigg popping in and out of his matches. That being said, Trigg decided to issue a special challenge to Styles. Thanks to the recent surge of Ultimate Fighting on Spike, Frank Trigg will finally step into the six-sided ring.

This Sunday at No Surrender, Trigg battles AJ Styles in an Ultimate Fighter Match. The rules are simple: Three 5-Minute Rounds, and the winner is the one who makes the other tapout. Styles accepted the match in physical fashion by slapping the taste out of Trigg's mouth.

The Price of Glory

Kevin Nash admitted that he was wrong for what he did last week on IMPACT!, but he wasn't sure if Samoa Joe was ready for the Four Ways to Glory Match. So Kevin Nash picked three opponents for Joe to face in a Gauntlet Match. In the first match, Joe made quick work of Johnny Devine with a Death Valley Driver to pick up the quick win. In the second match, Lance Rock tried to pick up quick control, but Samoa Joe took him out with a Kachina Clutch to pick up victory #2. In the final match, it was the return of Tomko from New Japan facing the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

The two men are in a slugfest to start off the final match with Joe getting dropped with a vicious clothesline. But Joe fights back with a superkick as Tomko guns for the Tomko Bomb. But Tomko continues to fight back as he lands the spinebuster on the champion. But Joe counters and delivers the Muscle Buster to defeat Tomko and prove a point to his mentor.

After the final match, Nash tells him that he's taught him all he needs to know and says that he's on his own now.

Earlier in the night, Booker T and Kurt Angle tried their best to get an early advantage on Christian Cage as they interrupted his match with Abyss. Their reward: A tag match against Abyss and "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan. In the main event of the night, the duo now being known as Ego Trip took on the Odd Couple of Abyss and Morgan.

Angle and Booker were in a world of hurt, but thanks to Team 3D's interference, Ego Trip picked up the cheap victory. All six of these men will be in action at No Surrender...but who will come out on top when TNA heads back to the IMPACT! Zone next Thursday.

A Challenge Answered...and Given

For weeks, Sting has been getting a message delivered by The King of The Mountain. Last week after dropping Samoa Joe and receiving another message, he called out Jeff Jarrett. Tonight, his challenge was answered...by Samoa Joe. As Joe sat atop the rafters, he made it clear that he would not be coming alone. On that note, that familiar guitar riff started up again...only this time, there was a body to go with it.

As the TNA logo raised from its perch, The King of The Mountain, with patented guitar in hand, made it clear that he will be there this Sunday. The questions that Sting wanted answers to have finally been answered by the man who has been a mystery. Now Sting has more than Samoa Joe and AJ Styles to worry about at No Surrender. He now has an old rival to worry about as well.

Has The King of The Mountain returned to take back his throne atop TNA? Or has he come to show how respect comes in TNA? Either way, No Surrender just got a lot better. See you this Sunday for TNA No Surrender!
