Nnamdi Asomugha and Darrelle Revis Fueling New York Jets to Super Bowl XLVI?

As it turns out, Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is not just arguably the best cornerback in the NFL.

Asomugha is also an extremely smart, smart man.

An interesting stipulation in Asomugha’s historic contract allowed his contract to be voided and will allow him to become a free agent this offseason.

In order to fulfill his hefty contract, Asomugha had to complete a certain number of incentives, including playing more defensive plays in 2010 than in 2009. He only played in 14 games in 2010 compared to 16 in 2009.

He could have also fulfilled his contract by improving on his defensive statistics, such as interceptions, fumbles and sacks. He had zero.

He failed to achieve those incentives.

Lucky him.

Now, any team will be able to go after the services of one of the game’s most complete cornerbacks ever.

Not only that, the Raiders cannot place the dreaded franchise tag on Asomugha to retain his services for another year.

Asomugha has finally found his way out of Oakland’s “Black Hole.”

Asomugha will finally be able to play for a winning team after struggling to bring the Raiders to the playoffs singlehandedly.

There is only one destination that makes the most sense for Asomugha:

The New York Jets.

The mayhem Rex Ryan could unleash on the rest of the NFL with two shutdown cornerbacks who have no problem playing isolated is unthinkable. In fact, it’s downright laughable to think of the possibilities.

They have no reason to re-sign cornerback Antonio Cromartie with Nnamdi Asomugha a free agent.

The Jets need to make this happen.

Pay Asomugha whatever he wants.

Seriously...

...whatever he wants.

Aside from an injury, nothing and nobody could possibly beat this duo.

It’s one of the only locks you would ever see in football.

They truly are the very best this game has to offer.
