Jets Vs Colts: 5 Reasons The Patriots Will Beat The New York Jets Next Week

Old AccountJun 7, 2018

The New York Jets win over the Indianapolis Colts sends Gang Green to Foxboro to face the rival New England Patriots.

The Patriots finished with the league's best recorf of 14-2 and is 1-1 this year against the rival Jets. The hatred between both teams is imminent.

Can the New York Jets go into another hostile stadium against one of the league's best quarterbacks again? I don't think so.

Granted I am not the biggest fan of the Jets, but it will be tough to see the Jets upset the Patriots in the playoffs in their home building.

Here are my five main reasons for why the Patriots will move on to the AFC Title game.

Patriots Are Well Rested On Both Sides Of The Ball

One of the many benefits to having the bye week is being well rested when preparing for your next opponent.

For the Patriots case, they can't look any better. On the offensive side, all the key contributors will be ready to go.

Deion Branch was the main injury concern on the offensive side of the ball, but was given two weeks to rest.

Tom Brady also battled multiple injuries during the regular season, and will be ready to go.

On the defensive front, there aren't many key injuries on the defense, but more of the veteran defensive front and line backers earning rest.

Tough to go against a Patriots team at full health.

Nobody Beats Bill Belichick With An Extra Week To Prepare

Bill Belichick is one of the greatest head coaches in the history of the league, with the playoffs being known what he is known-for.

For years we have learned that the Patriots are almost impossible to beat when they are given an extra week of preparation.

I don't see it being any different against the New York Jets. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady figured how to shred the Jets defense in their second match up, and since then have taken off with their new look offense.

New plays can be implemented and the Jets should expect to see an expanded play book with plays they have never seen before.

Patriots Defense Will Force Jets Offense To Be One Dimensional

A big reason why the Colts lost to the Jets today was the inability to shut down either part of the New York offense.

Shonn Greene and Ladanian Tomlinson shredded the Colts on the ground and kept Peyton Manning off the field, while Mark Sanchez made key throws down the stretch when it was needed.

In the dominating win over the Jets a month ago, Bill Belichick's defensive unit shut down the running game and forced the pressure on Mark Sanchez.

Look for an energized Patriots defense to close the holes on Greene and LT, and let Mark Sanchez be the savior for the Jets next week.

In last ten weeks of the NFL regular season, the New England Patriots offense has been unable to be contained.

The different sets of receivers creates major match up problems for many defenses, especially against the Jets a few weeks ago.

Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead are key receivers in the short yardage plays, while Deion Branch, Aaron Hernandez, and Rob Gronkowski can stretch the middle of the field which has hurt the Jets in recent weeks.

Tom Brady continues to play turnover free football, and will be hard to stop with the talent at his disposal.

The Patriots Need To Make a Statement Against The Rival Jets

The New England Patriots need to make a statement against the rival Jets.

Both teams split the season series this week, and are filled with confidence. Rex Ryan and the Jets players are bound to be open to speaking with the media about their hatred towards Tom Brady.

If your Brady or head coach Bill Belichick, other than a Super Bowl victory it can't be any sweeter than ending the Jets post-season hopes at home.

Expect a motivated Patriots team to knock Gang Green out of the post season.
