My Predictions: Wild-Card Round of The Postseason

Bryn SwartzJan 8, 2011

New Orleans 24, Seattle 20.

I would be very surprised if the Seahawks don't keep this much, much closer than everybody thinks. I actually have the Seahawks taking a 10-0 lead, as well as a 20-17 lead into the fourth quarter.

Drew Brees will be too much for Seattle's defense, but don't underestimate the loss of key players like Chris Ivory and Pierre Thomas to the Saints. This is the Year of the Turnover for the Saints, and I think Brees will throw two interceptions.

Seattle's pumped up crowd will be disappointed as Matt Hasselbeck throws a late fourth quarter interception to clinch the victory for the defending champions. And for the record, if the Seahawks do win (and I'm rooting for them), this will absolutely go down as one of the biggest upsets in NFL history.

Jets 24, Colts 17.

This is the second best game of the weekend. Rex Ryan has already announced that this game is personal, as the Colts ended the Jets season in the AFC championship last year. And Ryan and Jim Caldwell weren't around in 2002, but the Jets did beat Manning's Colts 41-0 in the postseason.

I think Tomlinson will turn in a strong game, a rarity for him in the postseason. Look for 90 yards and a touchdown. I think Greene will also score, which will help Mark Sanchez be able to limit his pass attempts.

Manning has been one and out six times (1999, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008), and the Colts have averaged just 14 points per game in his nine postseason losses. I expect basically the same thing this time.

Chiefs 17, Ravens 14.

This is my upset of the weekend. Joe Flacco has had two memorable postseason runs in his career. In 2008, he won two road games and last year he beat the Patriots on the road. I don't think he's going to win a road playoff game for the third consecutive season. Arrowhead Stadium is a difficult place to play and I think the Chiefs, who haven't won a playoff game since 1993, will end their five-game losing streak.

Jamaal Charles will top 100 yards and score a touchdown, and Cassel will complete 12 of 18 passes without an interception. If the Chiefs, who turned the ball over just 14 times this season, do not turn the ball over once, they'll win.

Eagles vs Packers.

Check my Pregame Thoughts article on www.eaglescentral.com tomorrow afternoon. I still haven't made this pick yet. And if I did, I still wouldn't tell you until tomorrow.
