Barney Corkhill continues to look at the lighter side of sport here with a countdown of the top 25 worst haircuts in football history!

Footballers are meant to make headlines with their feet, but it's hard to watch them work their magic with their feet when they have barnets like these!

So, without further ado, lets look at the top 25 worst footballing haircuts ever!

25. Ivan Campo—The long curly locks of Campo narrowly beat Carles Puyol to this list.

24. Djibril Cisse—A bright blond mohican to go with his bright blond beard. Lovely.

23. Fernando Torres—Yes, Torres used to have a proper mullet! Thankfully things have got better now. Marginally.

22. David Beckham—Take your pick. Beckham's haircuts always used to be the fashion, but they sometimes went wrong. The curtains and braids to name but two.

21. Cristiano Ronaldo—Before he became a mega-star he was just a young footballer with stupid, floppy, and highlighted hair.

20. Bobby Charlton—A footballing legend, but that comb-over was awful. As a comb-over it was infallible, as a hair-cut it was embarrassing

19. Charlie George—Far from Charlton's comb-over George's long flowing locks seemed to be more suitable for his wife than him.

18. Rudi Voller—Voller's grey, shoulder-length perm went together with his moustache to create a German looking Basil Fawlty.

17. Berti Vogts—It's hard to know what's going on with Vogts. He looks like he's going for a comb-over on the top, but frizzy over the ears. A nightmare hair-cut!

16. Alexei Lalas—Perhaps with the beard it wouldn't have looked so bad, but Lalas' long ginger hair and beard combo made him instantly recognisable for years.

15. Ronaldo—The 2002 World Cup haircut. It looked like he was a bit short of the money required for a full haircut, so settled for half.

14. Jason Lee—Such was his extravagant hairstyle that he was dubbed "The Pineapple." And yes, his hair did actually look like a pineapple.

13. Ruud Gullitt—His hair probably got worse when he became a manager, but he will always be remembered for his long dreadlocks flowing behind him.

12. Bacary Sagna—Bright blond dreadlocks, or whatever they are, make Sagna instantly recognisable.

11. Roberto Baggio—Who could forget that penalty he blazed over the bar? Well, his hair ensured no one did. A long grey ponytail? What was he thinking?!

10. Tony Daley—Unlike Bobby Charlton, Daley was bald on the side of his head, but had a full mane on the top of his head. Not a good look.

9. Rene Higuita—The most unpredictable, eccentric and mad keeper to grace the game, Higuita's hair was as crazy as his scorpion kick or his attempted dribble past Roger Milla.

8. David James—Amid his hair-changing spell last season, James came out with his "Superman" look. What's more, he kept with this look for the next few weeks!

7. Loco—Imagine Ronaldo's 2002 haircut. But instead of the dome at the front, he had braids on a dome at the front, falling down into his face.

6. Kevin Keegan—The ultimate perm! Need I say more?

5. Chris Waddle—If Keegan had the ultimate perm, Waddle had the ultimate mullet. His hair was nearly as cringe-worthy as his duet with Glen Hoddle!

4. Christian Ziege—A fully shaven head, apart from a thick line through the middle. It was barely a mohican. But this was topped off by him dying it the colours of Germany.

3. Abel Xavier—Another one to have had repeatedly bad hairstyles. His bright blond square hair to match his beard at Euro 2000 takes the biscuit for me, though.

2. Carlos Valderamma—Probably the most recognisable hair, Valderamma was a great footballer. But I could never take my eyes off that hair-do.

1. Taribo West—It has to be a hell of an effort to beat Valderamma, and it is. Not only did Taribo West have his whole head shaved, apart from two bits, but he then stuck those two bits up, like pig-tails. But that wasn't enough! He proceeded to dye them green.

West is the deserving winner of the worst hair-cut in football history!
