College Pick'em: Lisa Gets Spanked, Now Takes on Michael Shibley in Week Three

I still can't sit down after that tremendous beatdown by Joe "Hi, I've never picked against the spread" Morgan.  And to think I felt sorry for him!  Did I get hustled? By a spread virgin?  Wait, that didn't come out right.

Congrats to Joe for beating the stuffing out of me, and now I am fired up.  My first victim is Michael Shibley.  Nice guy.  Hope he is ready for battle.  In his own words...

Kansas +7 @ South Florida

Lisa: South Florida

The Bulls struggled a bit with Central Florida, but I still think Kansas is a little too hyped and USF tends to play well in big name games (i.e. Auburn last year).

They pass their first test to prove last year wasn't a fluke

UCLA +8.5 @ BYU

Lisa: UCLA

While I think the Cougs will win, I hate to bet against Norm Chow—he was a coach at BYU and knows their playbook inside and out.  Plus the Cougs struggled against a lower-tier Pac-10 team in Washington.

Michael: BYU

Out to prove they don't need the refs to beat a Pac-10 team.

Georgia -7 @ South Carolina

Lisa: Georgia

If the Bulldogs don't beat them by 18, I'll be shocked.  Cue Spurrier's visor meltdown.

Michael: Georgia

Dawgs avenge last year's upset on a down Gamecock team.

Michigan -1 @ Notre Dame

Lisa: Michigan

Let's all start the official boycott of NBC by not watching this absolute snooze fest.  What's the over?  20 points?

Both teams stink—I flipped a coin.  Winner gets to not get brutalized by ESPN this week.

Oklahoma -20 @ Washington

Lisa: Washington

I'm betting on the Pac-10 refs giving Stoops a two-fer and the Sooners' secondary getting exposed by Locker.

Michael: Oklahoma

Huskies have lost all their fight, and Boomer Sooner will just keep rolling along to Miami (they are my BCS pick after all).

OSU + 10.5 @ USC

Lisa: USC

See Rey Maualuga level Todd Boeckman.  See Maurice Wells get stuffed at the line.  End of story.

Michael: Ohio State

The Buckeyes think that no one thinks they can win, so they will fight and keep it close.  However, the Trojans defense is just too much.

North Texas +41 @ LSU

Lisa: LSU

The odds-makers must have meant this spread for only the first half of the game, right?

Michael: LSU

The Mean Green would be better off playing against Hurricane Ike.

Wisconsin -1 @ Fresno State

Lisa: Fresno State

The Dawgs' rush D has me a little concerned, but if the Fresno heat won't melt the Badgers' cheese, then Pat Hill's mind will.

Michael: Fresno State

The Bulldogs now have the respect of the BCS boys by having a home game against the Badgers.  They prove their mettle and get the win.

Va Tech -7 @ Georgia Tech

Lisa: Va Tech

I am not sold on the Jackets and think their youth will be the downfall against a mediocre, but veteran, Hokies team.

Michael: Georgia Tech

Great Yellow Jacket defense and a subpar Hokie offense means the Jackets might steal this one.

Oregon -7.5 @ Purdue

Lisa: Oregon

The Ducks' trilogy of terror—Chung, Byrd and Thurmond—will be picking off Painter's passes faster than Rosie O'Donnell in an all-you-can-eat buffet line's "last call."

Michael: Oregon

The Ducks have the best defense in the Pac-10 that is not USC and get the second win for the Pac-10 over a Big Ten team this week.

Breaking news: Beanie Wells has been listed as "doubtful" for the USC game on Saturday.
