Rich Rodriguez Is Still The Head Coach Of The University Of Michigan. Maybe?

Andrew KulhaJan 4, 2011

Despite multiple reports from many credible sources, Richard Rodriguez is apparently still the head coach at the University of Michigan.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls: it looks like we got duped!

Earlier in the day multiple media outlets reported that Rich Rodriguez was indeed done at the University of Michigan.

Fox 2 News Detroit was the first to go with the story, and soon everybody from writers here at B/R, including myself, all the way up to ESPN was reporting the firing.

Well, either we’re all dumb as bricks, or something real shady is going down in Ann Arbor.

According to a recent ESPN article, Michigan’s Athletic Director, David Brandon, told Desmond Howard that he had not yet come to a conclusion on Rodriguez’s future. Another source suggested that Brandon could have been hoping that Rodriguez would actually resign.

The Detroit Free Press is still reporting that Rodriguez was fired though. Stating that Brandon had made the decision Tuesday afternoon, but will also meet again Wednesday?

What's going on over there!

It is my opinion that if he indeed was not fired today, tomorrow will bring the official unveiling of the decision. The waiting could very well have to do with the details of Rodriguez’s contract with the University of Michigan, or Brandon could be stalling until he can lock up a replacement for the position.

Either way it is apparent that David Brandon’s master plan did not work, being that Rodriguez is still the coach at the University of Michigan.

Allegedly.

Apparently.

At least for the moment.

So, I’m here to officially open back up the can of worms that is Rich Rodriguez, and I’ll let you all have fun with it. I’ve given you the two different sides of the case, now I guess all we can do is wait and see what really happened.

Enjoy!
