Super Bowl XLV Predictions: 10 Matchups Fans Would Love To See

Frank FittipaldiJun 2, 2018

The Playoffs are finally upon us and what a wild season it has been in the NFL.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and will try and prove that they deserve to be the No. 1 seeds in their respected conferences.

Despite some great seasons all around the league, one team got into the playoffs with a losing record, the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks became the first team in NFL history to clinch a playoff berth with a losing record.

Fans love making predictions hoping to a see a great matchup in the Super Bowl.

Here are the top 10 matchups that fans would love to see.

10. Baltimore Ravens vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The battle of the birds.

What a matchup this would be as the tough Raven defense would try to contain the electrifying Michael Vick.

The Raven defense gave up almost 17 points per game, third best in the league while Michael Vick and the Eagles offense were one of the top scoring offenses in the NFL.

This would be a great matchup for fans to see as a top defense would clash with a top offense.

9. Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers

Peyton Manning and the Colts enter the playoffs in an unfamiliar position, as the third seed in the AFC.

Like the Colts, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers fought until the very last week of the season to get into the playoffs.

This would be a great matchup as two great quarterbacks would square off.

Peyton Manning would love to get back to the Super Bowl for the third time and redeem himself for last year's loss to the Saints while Aaron Rodgers is looking to make his first appearance to the big stage.

8. Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

We have seen what defenses have done to the Eagles when they get to Michael Vick.

The Giants did it for three quarters before their collapse and the Vikings contained Vick in Week 16 during a 24-14 win.

Who better to contain Vick that the Steelers who were the second overall defense during the regular season.

The Steelers' No. 1 rush defense would make the Eagles one dimensional and force Vick to win the game so it would definitely be an interesting matchup

7. Baltimore Ravens vs. Atlanta Falcons

These two teams met in a possible Super Bowl preview in Week 10 at the Georgia Dome.

Matt Ryan and the Falcons came out on top 26-21 as Ryan threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

I am sure the Raven defense would love to get another shot at Matt Ryan and the only place to do that is in the Super Bowl.

Two young quarterbacks in Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan would square in which would me a great matchup.

6. New England Patriots vs. Green Bay Packers

This would be another rematch from the regular season but this time the Packers would have Aaron Rodgers.

The inexperience of backup quarterback Matt Flynn could have possible cost the Packers the game in a Week 15 31-27 loss to the Patriots.

Aaron Rodgers would be the quarterback this time and would go up against the great Tom Brady.

What a great matchup this would be in a established veteran quarterback against a piece of the future of the NFL.

5. Chicago Bears vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Many people like to see a high scoring game in the Super Bowl, but let's not forget about the defensive side of the football.

This would be a battle of two of the top 10 defenses in the NFL during the regular season.

The Steelers and Bears were one and two in rush defense so Ben Roethlisberger and Jay Cutler would have to make plays.

Big Ben has been to the big stage twice before so he would have the upper hand against Cutler.

4. New Orleans Saints vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8 with a 20-10 victory.

The Saints had an impressive defensive performance holding the Steelers to just 10 points.

Granted, the game was in the Superdome so the Saints did have home-field advantage.

This would be an interesting matchup with two quarterbacks who both have Super Bowl rings in Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger.

3. New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints

A battle of two of the premiere quarterbacks in the league, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

The Patriots and the Saints met during the 2009 season when Drew Brees got the best of Tom Brady in a 38-17 win at the Superdome.

Well, this is a much different Patriots team that went 14-2 during the regular season and are looking for their fourth ring since 2001.

What a great game this would be.

2. Indianapolis Colts vs. New Orleans Saints

Now i know some may be wondering why the 10-6 Colts are this high on the list.

Who would not love to see a rematch of last year's Super Bowl?

Drew Brees and the Saints got the best of Peyton Manning and the Colts during Super Bowl 44 in a 31-17 win.

Peyton Manning would love nothing more than to get back to the Super Bowl and redeem himself against the Saints from last year's loss.

Another battle of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.

This is the game that many fans would want to see, a battle between the No. 1 seeds.

We saw both No. 1 seeds meet in Super Bowl 44 and it was a great matchup and these two No. 1 seeds would participate in another great Super Bowl.

Tom Brady and Matt Ryan would go head-to-head in another great matchup of great quarterbacks.

Ryan is another rising star in the NFL as Brady does not seem to lose a step as he gets older.

This would be Ryan's first trip to the Super Bowl while it would be Brady's fifth.
