NFL Power Rankings: The Top 10 Players of Tennessee Titans' 2010 Season
This dismal season has now officially come to an end for the Tennessee Titans, and it's difficult to find the positives.
However, there were plenty of players who often played well for this team, and helped keep this team's playoffs hopes alive as late as Week 16 against the Chiefs.
It's too bad for the Titans that it takes more than a handful of players to make a good NFL team. In fact, it takes pretty much the full roster.
These 10 guys still deserve a ton of credit for the leading the team when their numbers were called, even if that meant ending the season a disappointing 6-10.
In my opinion, these guys were definitely not part of the problem. They were part of the solution.
10. Michael Griffin
1 of 10
It was a pretty ugly campaign for the Titans' secondary this season, but Michael Griffin still had a solid season for the most part.
He finished with four interceptions and came in second on the team in tackles with 108 tackles. He also led the team with 12 pass deflections, an often overlooked stat.
Griffin is a guy that I feel the Titans must find a way to hold onto going forward. He's a heavy hitter and very reliable at the safety position.
He did finish the season with somewhat average numbers, but frankly the entire team is guilty of that.
9. Nate Washington
2 of 10
Nate Washington is hard to evaluate because he did finish second on the team in receiving. However, he struggled greatly down the stretch.
This passing offense ticks when Washington is contributing regularly, and he didn't do that over the second half of the season.
He cracks the list simply due to the fact that he made some big touchdown catches this season.
8. Kerry Collins
3 of 10
You may be scratching your head that Kerry Collins made the list with his pedestrian number, but let me remind you that this guy battled injuries much like Brett Favre did this season.
Collins finished with 14 touchdowns to only eight interceptions in limited action.
In other words, very little blame can be placed on Collins for the way the Titans finished the season. One has to wonder how the Titans would've finished with Collins under center the entire season.
Anyone remember how well Collins played when asked to step in on Monday Night Football after the Vince Young injury?
The bottom line is Collins proved to be a reliable safety net at quarterback this season. It could've been a lot worse than it already was if the Titans hadn't have had a veteran like Collins to step in and do damage control.
7. Ahmard Hall
4 of 10
This guy might be one of the most underrated players on the Titans roster. I've never seen him take a play off, which is something I can't say for several Titans players.
Ahmard Hall has shown that he is actually a reliable receiver out of the backfield, even more so than Chris Johnson.
He battles for every yard and showed great ball security by never fumbling
If you get a chance to go back and watch any of the Titans games, watch how Hall plays the game. I promise you that you'll be impressed with his effort and tenacity.
So why does a guy that shows so much effort when he has the ball only get one measly carry on the season? That's something I would like to ask Jeff Fisher personally.
6. Marc Mariani
5 of 10
The Titans only managed two Pro Bowl players this season, and rookie Marc Mariani is one of them.
He consistently gave the Titans good starting field position this season, especially on kickoff returns. It was a bit of surprise when Mariani didn't at least reach the 30-yard line on kickoff returns.
It was so obvious that Mariani got better and better as the season progressed.
Mariani finished with one kickoff return for a touchdown and one punt return for a touchdown. He took all but four returns on special teams this season, which shows durability.
It's always impressive when a rookie makes the Pro Bowl, and it's great to see Mariani get credit for what he did for the Titans this season.
5. Alterraun Verner
6 of 10
Anytime a rookie cornerback can manage to have the season that Alterraun Verner had, then you have to give them a ton of credit.
It wasn't always pretty, but Verner still locked down his side of the field on a consistent basis. There's still room for a lot of improvement, but that's going to be the case with the majority of rookies going into next season.
Verner finished second on the team in interceptions and pass deflections.
Expect him to be even better next season now that he has a season of valuable experience under his belt.
Chalk up another great draft pick by the Titans.
4. Stephen Tulloch
7 of 10
Stephen Tulloch had a ton of pressure on him going into the season as the replacement of Keith Bulluck.
He handled that pressure very well by leading the team in tackles for a second-straight season. Not only did he finished at the top of the team's list in tackles, but he finished second in the NFL in tackles.
It was the outside linebacker position that the Titans struggled with, so hopefully the Titans will address that in the offseason.
He topped off the season with a sack on Peyton Manning. Not a bad way to end the season.
3. Rob Bironas
8 of 10
It may not be a good thing that the Titans constantly settle for field goals over touchdowns, but we can't fault Rob Bironas for that.
Bironas consistently did his job and did it well. He finished the season hitting 24 of his 26 field goals, with a long of 55.
No telling where the Titans' offense would be if the reliable Bironas wasn't kicking field goals.
2. Jason Babin
9 of 10
Jason Babin fueled this Titans defensive line the entire season, and it got him a spot in the Pro Bowl.
One of the few bright spots on the Titans defense was Babin, who had a career-high 12.5 sacks on the season.
He never had more than five sacks in a season before this year, so talk about a breakout year.
Add eight tackles for loss and two forced fumbles to all those sacks, and you have yourself one of the most productive Titans' defensive ends in quite some time.
1. Kenny Britt
10 of 10
Two seasons under Kenny Britt's belt now, and both have resulted in him leading the team in receiving. Simply put, that's impressive.
Was there really any doubt who would lead this list?
Britt has a great future in this league, and hopefully the Titans will hold onto him.
Everyone wants to condemn Randy Moss for his lack of production, but Britt made up for it. All of Moss's missing numbers went to Britt.
An unfortunate injury late in the season probably kept Britt from making the Pro Bowl, and was one of the main contributing factors to the Titans not making the playoffs.
You have to think that the Titans would've at least won two of those four games Britt missed, which would've been enough to pull out a division title.
That's how valuable this guy is to the Titans. Now the Titans just need a top-level quarterback to get him the ball consistently.
