College Football Recruiting: Todd Peat Jr. Narrows List to ASU and Stanford

Well, maybe he hasn't officially narrowed his list, but Todd Peat Jr., a highly touted defensive tackle prospect out of Tempe, AZ, told ESPN.com that Arizona State and Stanford are currently at the top of his list of schools.

He made an unofficial visit to the Stanford campus, which took place this summer, and made an official visit to Arizona State. He said that both he and his family are high on these two schools.

Grabbing Peat would be huge for both teams.

At 6'3" and 295 pounds, Peat has the measurables of a guy who can be plugged in immediately, although he would have to put on a little more weight should he play in Stanford's 3-4 defensive scheme. He has a non-stop motor and the strength to take on and split double teams.

Todd Peat would arguably be ASU's best and most high-impact recruit, and would have a chance at significant playing time on a young, powerful Arizona State defense.

Arizona State has a hook, but Stanford may end up winning the push, and not just for academics.

Should Jim Harbaugh decide to stay, Stanford has the chance to enter the preseason next year as a top-10 program who could return a whole lot of starters, most notably quarterback Andrew Luck.

On defense, though, Stanford will be losing senior defensive tackle Sione Fua, leaving an empty spot in the middle of the defensive line that could easily be filled by Peat.

Peat has five official visits scheduled for January (Stanford, Oregon State, Colorado, Nebraska, Arizona State), so the decision process is far from over for him, but Stanford and Arizona State seem to be the highest contenders right now.

In all likelihood, no decision will be made until National Signing Day in the beginning of February, but keep your eyes on this kid, because he will be a big signing for whichever team gets him.
