NFL Draft 2011: Is Ohio State University Quarterback Terrelle Pryor Leaving?

James EvensDec 31, 2010

Ohio State has recently had some issues with the NCAA come out, that players including quarterback Terrelle Pryor were selling bowl memorabilia and trading autographs for tattoos which is in breach of NCAA rules.

It was announced he would be suspended for five games at the beginning of the 2011 season.

Could this lead the 6'6" quick quarterback to exit early for the NFL, and what position would he play in the NFL?

NFL Position Controversy?

Pryor has been a great quarterback at OSU, but OSU quarterbacks do not have a very good track record in the NFL.

Just look at Troy Smith.

The next few slides will question which position would be a better fit for Pryor.

Wide Receiver

He is big, he is tall, he is fast and he is very strong.

What more could you want from a wide-out in the NFL?

He would cause a big advantage for anyone throwing to him and be able to outrun a lot of the cornerbacks in the league.

Quarterback

Pryor would make a decent QB in the NFL, especially with a lot of teams looking to go to the quick running style quarterback over the traditional pocket passer.

Pryor would have a great size and speed advantage, the only question is his throwing motion and how that would effect him, as well as his accuracy.

Pryor learned this in college, so why not use these skills in the pros?

Great Back-Up

If Pryor is selected for the quarterback role, i can't really see him having a huge career at this position.

He is looking more at a back-up role.

I Wouldn't Draft HIm

I would not take Pryor because of his injuries. He has been beat up in college and will continue to be in the pro game.

That is the main reason I would not take this great athlete in the first three rounds, not to mention his accuracy is not so great.

He Should Go This Season

If he waits until next season he will be faced with playing on a team that has no shot at the title, due to his absence at the quarterback position, and might even be taken over by a young star that emerges with Pryor's absence.

If I were him, I would go this season because that five game suspension could mean his stock lowering.
