NFL Power Rankings Week 17: Focus on the New York Jets
Doing power rankings are tough, but because of the limited number of games on an NFL schedule, it's one of the only ways to get an idea for which teams are better than one another, given factors other than just their records.
At my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams. It's a hugely subjective process in which I account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses.

The loss to the Dolphins in Week 14 after getting blown out by New England the week before derailed the Jets in the power rankings. Before that, they were a top-five team. The Week 15 victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh helped add a huge achievement onto the Jets' resume, but then in Week 16 the Jets went to Chicago and their defense showed considerable weakness against a questionable Bears scoring attack. Still, the Bears are a good team, so only losing to them by four is an achievement in my book.
How does all that factor in when I compare all 32 resumes? Surely the Jets are a top-10 team, but how do they fare against the 9-to-11 win teams? I don't do the rankings based solely on record, so they're not necessarily behind all of the 11-win teams, nor are they necessarily ahead of all of the nine-win teams.
