San Francisco 49ers Front Office Search: Why They Need to Hire Bill Parcells

Old AccountDec 29, 2010

The San Francisco 49ers have begun clearing house this week, firing head coach Mike Singletary and searching for a new general manager.

ESPN.com reported today that 49ers president Jed York would speak with Parcells and intends to ask his opinion of Trent Baalke, a candidate for the general manager position, who used to work under Parcells in New York.

Is there something missing here? Why isn't York considering Parcells for either the general manager position or a high position in the front office?

York might be the president of this franchise, but Parcells has proven able to take on major rebuilding projects, and when he leaves them these teams are much better off.

Sure, Parcells may not have seen any Super Bowl rings through these positions. However, he is a no tolerance guy who needs to bring in players who are willing to work hard for this franchise.

This team has a lot of talent but needs a lot of help, beginning at the quarterback position.

The 49ers are a franchise that is willing to spend money. It would be in their best interest to bring in a veteran like Parcells who can bring stability to this franchise.

This organization has dealt with a long playoff drought that continues to grow year after year.

I know there would be some hesitance to bring in Parcells, as he does not tend to stay in one place for quite a long time.

However, the knowledge that Parcells could bring to this organization could be just what the 49ers need.

Many people thought the 49ers would return to the playoffs this season. With the issues on both sides of the ball, roster moves need to be made if they want to win the NFC West.

However, Jed York should consider Bill Parcells, as he can put together a team capable of making the playoffs along with being a stable franchise in the long run.
