NFL Playoff Scenarios: Predicting the 12 Teams That Will Make the 2011 Playoffs

Matthew ShepardDec 29, 2010

A lot has happened this year. A stadium collapsed, the Lions won a few games and Brett Favre missed a start. When push comes to shove only one thing matters Playoffs.

There has been some missed calls and some bad plays and some plays cost teams a win and a spot in the Playoffs.

These are my predictions on the 2011 Playoffs.

AFC East: New England Patriots

1 of 12
ORCHARD PARK, NY - DECEMBER 26: Danny Woodhead #39, Benjarvus Green-Ellis #42, and Fred Taylor #21 of the Patriots celebrate a touchdown in the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium on December 26, 2010 in Orchard Park, New York

The Patriots record stands for itself 13-2. They have been an unstoppable powerhouse since 2003. They play as a team and thats what wins games.  As long as Tom Bradey is play the Patriots are looking good.

AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are going to the Playoffs but the question is at what Seed? They are looking good this season but The Ravens are on their tail once again.

I predict that the Steelers will win the top spot. The chemistry the team had was great last year and not too much.

AFC South: Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are not coming off their best season but it is enough for something. They have the mental aspect of a team that can win but can they get it going in the Playoffs?

Personally I do not see them making it past the 1st round but hey at least they are in.

Who would of thought that Kansas City would make the Playoffs? Before the season even started I did not even think that they would be in the running but they proved me wrong. Overall they had a great season 10-5.

The Jaguars looked like the team to be but Kansas held them off. Its not much but a win is a win and this season field goals made the difference.

AFC Wild Card: New York Jets

5 of 12
CHICAGO, IL - DECEMBER 26: Mark Sanchez #6 of the New York Jets slips as he tosses the ball to a running back as Anthony Adams #95 and Israel Idonije #71 of the Chicago Bears rush at Soldier Field on December 26, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. The Bears defea

The Jets were looking like a team that would give New England a run for its money for the number one spot in the AFC East. They looking good until their winning streak was snapped.

They have the special teams going good when they want too but other times they fail like in the Bears game. The Jets have something to prove to not only the NFL but the fans. They may of messed up some games but are due for a comeback.

AFC Wildcard #2: Baltimore Ravens

CLEVELAND - DECEMBER 26: Safety Chris Carr #25 of the Baltimore Ravens jumps for the ball as safety Ed Reed #20 looks on with wide receiver Chansi Stuckey #83 of the Cleveland Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium on December 26, 2010 in Cleveland, Ohio. (

The Ravens are already in the Playoffs and may pull a win to take the top spot but who knows. Both The Ravens and Steelers have had their ups and downs this season. They put everything they had into this season and their record is showing it.

Even if they lose they are in but its just a matter of who they will face that is the challenge.

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles

There is no doubt that the Eagles are doing good this season. They kept the Giants from getting a title and are the Champions of the NFC East.

The worst they can do is get the no. 3 seed which is not a bad thing. The City of Brotherly love is looking good this year and maybe waering a ring.

NFC North: Chicago Bears

Blue collar, this is what Chicago Football is about. The Bears have heart and although some wins have not been pretty they got the job done.

Head Coach Lovie Smith is the main driving force behind their success. If they somehow make it to the bowl and win. Smith will be among the football greats in Chicago.

Chicago has held off big teams through defense and a good defense will win games.

NFC South: Atlanta Falcons

Everything the Falcons have done was perfect. They are entering the Playoffs with an impressive record of 12-3.

Personally I would love to see two super giants meet in the Super Bowl (New England and Atlanta) but that is not always the case. They have the right blend of both young and old. Sure they lost some rival games but overall not bad.

The Falcons should go all the way the only problem they may face is a fight between the Saints or a match between the Bears.  If either team defeats them in the playoffs the Falcons will remember it for a long time.

NFC West: St. Louis Rams

Once the Rams won against the San Francisco 49ers the showdown begun. The Seahawks thought they had the division but St. Louis proved that they can play under pressure.

The next game they both play is for all the marbles. The Rams will be facing their next game with momentum and momentum is the key to win games.  The Rams main reason for this season struggle was injuries but those second stringers are proving to better then expected.

NFC Wild Card: New Orleans Saints

The Saints are back in the Playoffs but not without some doubts. They are trying to defend their title and not too many teams had had back-to-back success. They pulled a miracle last season by winning the Super Bowl.

Being the underdog is not a bad thing though. They have done it in the past and are hoping to do it again. Pierre Thomas is running better late season then early thanks in part to the offensive line opening up more holes for not him.

The Saints may of just made the Playoffs but they are the most dangerous team to play post season.

NFC Wildcard #2: Green Bay Packers

Ok lets admit things have not been the same since Brett Favre left Greenbay. This year seemed different. They were not looking too good but I thought that they would make he wildcard pick with no problems.

The only reason that they struggled was because of injuries. They had to use their backup quarterback for the first time since Favre was a rookie. Green Bay now has its starting QB and they looking to get in the Playoffs and with some luck they should get in.
