NFL MVP Watch 2010: Michael Vick Attempting To Catch Tom Brady In Final Weeks
Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Minnesota Vikings on the first Tuesday Night Football game in over 60 years.
With week 17 officially started for the other 30 teams, Michael Vick does not have many chances to persuade the voters in selecting him for MVP.
Vick has taken advantage of every opportunity on national television whenever he has been given the chance.
How does Vick and the rest of the candidates MVP look heading into the final week of the season?
Here are the current candidates in the NFL MVP Watch for 2010.
Philip Rivers
1 of 5
Stats:
4397 passing yards
66.7 completion percentage
30 TD
12 INT
As Philip Rivers watched his San Diego Chargers be eliminated from playoff contention, he could say good-bye to his slim MVP hopes as well.
Despite putting up great stats this season, Rivers will not get any support for putting up good numbers on a non-contending team.
Better luck next year.
Peyton Manning
2 of 5
Stats:
4436 passing yards
66.3 completion percentage
31 TD
17 INT
Peyton Manning continues to stay in the MVP race by leading the Colts to a likely playoff birth this season.
Manning has taken control of the offense as usual and in the last few weeks the Colts have defeated the Jaguars and the Raiders ( two teams they needed to defeat).
Peyton will definitely get some votes as his ability to lead the Colts this season along with his known reputation will get favor him with some of the voters.
Drew Brees
3 of 5
Stats:
4424 passing yards
68.7 completion percentage
32 TD
21 INT
Drew Brees improved his position in the MVP race by carrying the Saints on the road to defeat the rival Atlanta Falcons.
In my opinion Brees jumped over Manning, as in the past month New Orleans is beginning to fire on all cylinders and has a great shot of returning to the Super Bowl.
The Saints officially clinched a playoff berth last night with the win which should give Brees some extra votes when the time comes to vote.
Michael Vick
4 of 5
Stats:
2755 passing yards
63.2 completion percentage
20 TD
5 INT
Despite missing multiple games early in the season, Michael Vick is making a great case to be this year's NFL MVP.
Vick is leading a young Eagles team to a playoff birth and possibly a bye in the NFC. Vick's ability to be efficient throwing the ball and using his speed as a weapon makes it tough for most defenses to stop.
Vick and the Eagles will be on national television tonight to take on the Minnesota Vikings. It wouldn't hurt to see Vick put up one more great performance before the post-season begins.
Tom Brady
5 of 5
Stats:
3701 passing yards
66.0 completion percentage
34 TD
4 INT
With one game left in the regular season for the New England Patriots, its fair to say the MVP is Tom Brady's to lose.
Brady has led the Patriots to home field throughout the playoffs and the best record in football. Brady is efficient, has beaten every elite team in the NFC, and already has a good reputation with the voters.
Barring two spectacular games by Michael Vick, Tom Brady will be the MVP of the 2010 regular season.
