Vikings vs. Eagles Game Canceled: Latest on Rescheduled Game

Chris TrapassoDec 26, 2010

The Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles will play in the NFL's first night game since 1946, after the game was postponed today due to the blizzard hitting the Philadelphia area tonight and tomorrow.

Does Tuesday Night Football have the same ring to it as Monday Night Football?

Not so much.

Either way, we've got the information you need as you wait in anticipation for this NFC matchup with playoff implications.

General Information

The game is set to kickoff at 8 p.m. EST in Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field.

"Football Night in America'' will fill it's usual slot from 7 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. EST.

ESPN reached out to Philadelphia Mayor who said the following about the conditions on Tuesday Night and whether or not the field will be ready to play on...

"We'll be prepared," who said city operations officials were in constant contact with the NFL and the Eagles front office. "Either way, if there is a game or not, the city will be ready. But it's the NFL's call to play the game or not." (via ESPN)

(Not to worry Vikings' fans, you'll play in a professional stadium)

It will air nationally on NBC with the normal Sunday Night Football crew of Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth.

Injury Report

There has been no word if the extra day will alter either team's injury report.

For the Eagles:

Nick Cole, Moise Fokou, Clay Harbor, DeSean Jackson and Winston Justice are all still listed as probable.

Mike Patterson is questionable.

Keenan Clayton is doubtful, and Stewart Bradley is out.

For the Vikings:

Jamarca Sanford and Frank Walker are probable.

Madieu Williams and Adrian Peterson are both questionable.

Brett Favre is doubtful (who knows) and Tyrell Johnson is out.

Reaction

Sports Illustrated's Peter King tweeted the following this afternoon upon hearing the game was postponed due to a snowstorm:

"The prospect of postponing a game because of snow? That's what I call absurd."

Eagles dazzling wide receiver DeSean Jackson posted this tweet after the hearing the news:

"It's only snow!!!! Let us play... It must be a lot of fun... I'm ready let's get it on!!"

Neither coach seemed worried or flustered about having to play the game two days later...

"I think we'll be all right. We've had Monday games, Sunday night games, we had a Thursday game, so we've been through a lot of this already, and that will help us. We'll be fine," Eagles head coach Andy Reid said.

"We have every reason, because of the season, to say, 'This is the last straw and I'm checking out,' " Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said. "But this is the NFL and you can't do that. You have to show up ready to play Tuesday night and that's what we're trying to get the young guys and everybody to understand." (quotes via ESPN)

The Eagles will now only have five days to rest before their season finale with the rival Dallas Cowboys in a game that could decide the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs.
