SEC Rankings: Georgia Bulldogs Maintain Number One Spot

The ACC and SEC BlogSep 8, 2008
The SEC missed out on an opportunity to completely smother the ACC when Ole Miss lost a heartbreaker to Wake Forest. The conference season heats up this week with Georgia vs South Carolina.

1. Georgia
The Bulldogs covered the Over by themselves against Central Michigan. They limited QB Dan LeFevour on the ground and looked very good overall on defense. Now the real tests begin and don’t end until the end of the season.

2. Florida
Florida’s defense carried the Gators for most of the game until the offense awoke in the fourth quarter. I still say Florida needs an inside runner besides Tebow. They have great speed on the edge though.
3. Auburn
4. LSU
5. Alabama
Not as impressive as last week, but a small letdown had to be expected against Tulane.
6. Kentucky
7. Tennessee
8. Ole Miss
QB Jevan Snead was impressive in a last second loss to Wake Forest. The Rebels look to be way ahead of Miss State and Arkansas in the race for the fourth spot in the SEC West at this point in the season.
9. Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt finally breaks through against a ranked team after all those close losses. The pass defense was exceptional in the second half.
10. South Carolina
Another season of high expectations and another disappointing early loss to knock the Gamecocks back to earth.
11. Arkansas
A win is a win, but fourth quarter comebacks are going to run out for Petrino soon.
12. Miss State
