5 Most Entertaining Events in NFL Week One

5. Forget Sweetness, Matt Forte is the Man!

Everyone remembers Walter Payton. However, at this point in their careers Matt Forte just owns him. Peyton ran 8 times for 0 yards in his debut, Forte racked up 123 and a touch.

Okay, in all seriousness, nobody, at least until Forte does it for 10 or 12  straight years and takes Chicago to the Promised Land, confuses their talent level, but Forte is nonetheless fun to watch even for non-Bears fans like myself.

Even while rooting for the Colts to win, it was entertaining to watch Forte carve up the Colts d. He showed great vision, picking out holes where there were none and when there were holes, bouncing through them so fast the Colts wondered what just passed them. He also bounced back pretty well from a pretty solid hit Bob Sanders got on him after he had been stood up by the first defender.

4. Terrell Owens celebrates a touchdown.

Ocho Cinco and T.O. are far and away the most entertaining guys in the NFL when it comes to celebrations. Unlike one-hit wonders like Ickey Woods and his little shuffle or sideline wanderer Joe Horn, they consistently come up with original material that, while it sometimes misses, is more often than not entertaining.

T.O. recently challenged an Olympian sprinter (Bolt) to a race where he would have a lead. So after scoring his first TD of the season he mimed prepping for a sprint. Unfortunately for fans of quick but funny sketches, it cost Dallas 15 yards and kept Cleveland in the game for a few more possessions. It also had non-NFL watchers laughing at our residence.

3. Brett Favre and the Jets take down the Miami Dolphins

Let's see. The Jets have a kicker so wounded they don't even bother trying to kick PATs, a receiving corp recruited from a local JV team, and a quarterback who makes George Blanda look young and Charlie Brown look purposeful.

But when Favre threw that horrific "anything is better than a sack" heave on 4th and 13 that resulted in a Jets score, you knew the magic is still there. Favre might make it hard on his teams by flip-flopping on when or whether to retire, but he also delivers excitement on the field.

2. Jake Delhomme and the Carolina Panthers steal one

It was great listening to the announcers blather on and on and on about the huge mistake the Panthers made in not using their time-out...only to see the Panthers use the ability to call time-out to hit a pass over the middle to give them a reasonable 12 yard shot at a game-winning touchdown.

Then, without Steve Smith, against the heralded San Diego defense, in San Diego, they hit the pass through multiple defenders with no time on the clock to start poor Norv Turner off slowly again. The guy is snake-bit.

1. Manning Brothers versus the Williams Sisters

Forget last second Hail Mary game-winning passes. Forget the best debut by a running back in Bears history. Forget T.O. going Olympic with his celebration. Far and away the most exciting, entertaining moment in Week One of the NFL...was a commercial.

It was so good they could have run it non-stop for three hours instead of the Seachicken/Buffalo Bills snooze fest and it still would have been more entertaining.

The Mannings already have had us laughing from the Peyton Sprint commercials with the cheesy mustache to his support of local workers on down to the Manning brothers touring ESPN and fighting the whole way.

They have a sense of humor, don't take themselves too seriously, and just have fun.

So during the OREOS commercial, the by-play with the Williams sisters where the ladies verbally best them at every turn, only to have Eli crack out the nonsensical line, "It's on like Donkey Kong" is an instant classic.

In fact, I challenge every reader to find a way to use that line in every-day conversation today.

Feel free to disagree with my list, but you know I am right. And if you crack back on me, just know it is on like Donkey King.
