Week 16 Fantasy Football WR Rankings: Can Vincent Jackson Do It Again?
Tenny StegmanDec 24, 2010
Week 16 is tricky for many reasons. The fantasy bowl is upon us and we have so much on the line, but many of the players that got us to this point actually don't. Worry not, that doesn't mean that teams out of the playoff hunt will roll over and play dead, fantasy or otherwise, but it could affect guys who are on the mend that would otherwise play through pain.
We have many potential angles on this front factored into all of our rankings. Enjoy responsibly, and we wish you the best of luck whether you find yourself in a one-week match for cash, or your league's super bowl for all the marbles (and a trophy, too).

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
- Greg Jennings home vs. NY Giants — 4 p.m. Sunday — Corey Webster scares everyone that follows except me, I guess. Chalk it up to confidence in Aaron Rodgers. The Giants have allowed the 14th fewest fantasy points to WRs over the last five weeks and 11th fewest on the season. Their pass rush is fierce, but given time, Rodgers can pick this secondary apart, and Jennings is having the finest year of his career.
- Reggie Wayne at Oakland — 4 p.m. Sunday — If Nnamdi does play, he won't be 100 percent, and the Colts have to win out in order to maintain a shot at a wild-card or a division title. Austin Collie came back briefly last week and was then KO'd one more time. The Raiders have allowed the seventh fewest fantasy points to WRs on the season, but the 10th most over the last five weeks to coincide with Nnamdi's maladies. Wayne is a top flight WR1 for your fantasy bowl.
- Calvin Johnson at Miami — 1 p.m. Sunday — He's match up AND QB proof, so I don't feel the need to chuck stats in your face to justify this ranking. He's unbenchable.
- Miles Austin at Arizona — 8 p.m. Saturday — He was targeted by Kitna five times in the Red zone alone in Week 15 after being largely ignored over the four previous weeks. The timing is perfect heading into the Super Bowl, although, don't be quick to write this one off as an easy match up as the Cardinals have allowed the seventh fewest fantasy points over the last five games. Still, I think Austin could bust free for a long one while these two teams keep each other company in a meaningless Week 16 for both.
- Andre Johnson at Denver — 4 p.m. Sunday — He's looking to finish the season in strong form, however will draw a Champ Bailey, who is playing for a new contract, in coverage. Bailey has been far from flawless this season (See Dwayne Bowe in Week 10), but has come around over the last five games. This game has zero meaning, but I figure that since 'Dre isn't nursing any injuries, that he's good to go. The Broncos allow the 9th fewest fantasy points on the season, but the sixth fewest over the last five weeks.
- DeSean Jackson home vs. Minnesota — 8 p.m. Sunday — The Miracle at the New Meadowlands was quite an accomplishment for DeSean; what a game. Now, back to business, buddy, because you didn't much help my fantasy team when it mattered most in Week 15. The Vikings are 11th worst defending fantasy WRs on the season but sixth worst over the last five games. D-Jax is a WR1 and then some for the Super Bowl.
- Marques Colston at Atlanta — MNF — It's been a few weeks since the Falcon secondary has been tested. They are allowing the eighth most fantasy points to WRs on the season, but 16th fewest over the last five weeks. Let's not forget who they've played, though (Seattle, Carolina, Tampa, Green Bay, and St. Louis). The Saints have all but locked up a wild card spot, and could still catch Atlanta if the right chips fall into place, so they have plenty to play for.
- Roddy White home vs. New Orleans — MNF — He went for 69 (dude!) yards on five catches and a score in Week three during the first meeting, but the 2010 targets leader is a WR1 in every week that he is healthy, save for games vs. the Jets where Revis is at full strength. The Saints are tops in the league at defending WRs, so have an anti-depressant nearby for this one.
- Vincent Jackson at Cincy — 4 p.m. Sunday — Floyd is "almost certain" NOT to play this Sunday in Week 16 making VJ an automatic WR consideration given last week's outburst. Gates hasn't practiced all week, and even if he did play, it would be at less than 100 percent and his presence could actually help VJ out. The Bengals will likely double VJ all afternoon. They have allowed the 9th most fantasy points to WRs this season, second most over the last five weeks.
- Kenny Britt at KC — 1 p.m. Sunday — Britt's numbers are even more impressive when you factor in the carousel of QBs he's had to work with this season (Vince Young and Kerry Collins). The Chiefs are right in the middle of the NFL in defending opposing WRs, so don't hesitate to insert Britt into your line up. The Chiefs will be more focused on shutting down Chris Johnson than anything else on this offense.
