Terrelle Pryor Suspended Along With Others For Selling Ohio State Gear

Tom EdringtonDec 23, 2010

Terrelle Pryor suspended for the first five games of the 2011 Ohio State season?

You betcha.

The NCAA brought the hammer down hard Thursday on Pryor and five of his teammates who set up their own little retail operation, according the findings.

Faster that you can say Go Buckeyes, Jim Tressel will have to do some serious improvisation for the start of next season. The Vest has nine months to figure out that pickle, the good news is the campus version of Terrelle's Sporting Goods will be able to play in the Jan. 4 Sugar Bowl.

The Scarlet gang had themselves a nice little retail shop going. Pryor sold his 2009 Big Ten championship ring along with other goodies. Joining Pryor in the campus version of Dick's Sporting Goods were Dan Herron, the team's leading rusher along with Mike Adams, Devier Posey and Solomon Thomas. Jordon Whiting got away with a meager one-game suspension.

There will be restitution as well. The NCAA accounting gremlins figured the industrious lads have to donate sums to charity ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. That's a lot of jerseys, pants, trophies, shoes, all kinds of Buckeye goodies.

Sounds like these guys had their own little campus store.

Amazing, just want all Buckeye fans wanted for Christmas, a major memorabilia bust. And to think the initial buzz was that there simply might be some sort of horse-trading going on for free tattoos.

And all this NCAA detective work must have been going on for quite a while. This stuff wasn't dug up overnight and this clever gang of students who just happen to play football, must have been delving deep into Entrepreneurship 301, advanced course.

Unfortunately for Terrelle and the Cash Register Five, someone knew about all this sales and marketing stuff.

Yes, Buckeye non-lovers will have a field day with this.

The shame of it all is that this nifty little retail operation is out of business and will miss the opportunity to cash in on all those last-minute Christmas shoppers who might want to pick up some jerseys, pants, rings, shoes or trophies for the Ohio State fans on their gift lists.
