Wladimir Klitschko-David Haye in a Heavyweight Shootout at Cowboys Stadium?

Laz IzadaDec 21, 2010

Hey boxing enthusiasts, wouldn't it be nice to have the heavyweights back in the states?

We all know that the talk around boxing circles is Manny Pacquiao's next possible opponent, Shane Mosley, but let's not forget about boxing's most historically talked about and premier division: THE HEAVYWEIGHTS.

There are several heavyweight match-ups being mentioned for 2011: WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko will be facing Cuban 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Odlanier Solis in the spring of 2011; there is also a strong possibility that IBF Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA Heavyweight Champion David Haye, will tangle in 2011.

Why not make these two match-ups happen here in the states at Cowboys Stadium? It would be a dream come true for boxing fans. Cowboys Stadium compares well with the large stadiums in Europe, where the Klitschko's have been defending their titles. The Super Bowl will take place at Cowboys Stadium in 2011.

To make things more attractive, this Cowboy's Heavyweight (dream) Shootout in 2011 should have an all heavyweight undercard loaded with heavyweights with some based in the United States.

Just think of the possibilities: Tomasz Adamek versus David Tua—Adamek is ranked No. 1 and Tua is ranked No. 2 for the WBO.

Other heavyweights that should be included in the shootout, to mix things up. Alexander Povetkin (which is now being trained by Teddy Atlas), Denis Boytsov (who is ranked No. 3 by the WBC and the WBA) and to add some American flair, Derric Rossy (No. 8 WBC), Chuancy Welliver (No. 14 WBC) and Johnathan Banks (No. 7 WBC).

If this heavyweight shootout scenario was to take place it would be historical and phenomenal.

I feel it is what boxing and the heavyweight division needs.

How do you feel? What is your opinion?
