Tom Brady Possibly Out For Season With ACL Tear

College Football FanaticSep 7, 2008

Reigning NFL MVP Tom Brady left Sunday's game against the Chiefs in the first quarter after taking a hard hit from Chiefs' safety Bernard Pollard. Patriots fans were praying that it wouldn't be serious.

Unfortunately for them, it looks like it could be.

Two sources close to the team said that Tom Brady has torn his ACL in his left knee and while it hasn't been confirmed by Bill Belichick, most reports on the injury have indicated serious damage to the left knee.

If the ACL tear is confirmed, Brady will most likely miss the rest of the season.

Fourth-year quarterback Matt Cassel finished out the game for the Patriots and went 13 for 18 for 152 yards and a touchdown, but if this is an actual ACL tear and not just a big rumor, the AFC is wide open now.

The Patriots won today's game against the Chiefs, 17-10.
