Mitch WilsonSep 7, 2008

Here are my Top Ten Lists of Top Ten things in college football after Week 2.

Top Ten Teams

1) USC: The Trojans look absolutely loaded and ready to roll.

2) Ohio State: If I were playing USC the next week I may be looking ahead a little as well.

3) Oklahoma: If there was a playoff, they would be in it.

4) Georgia: Certainly haven't done anything wrong.

5) Florida: Absolutely loaded.

6) Texas: Colt McCoy may be better than we thought.

7) Oregon: Deeper than they've looked in quite some time, if not ever.

8) Wisconsin: Power Running at its best.

9) LSU: No one has knocked off the defending champs yet.

10) Missouri: I'm less than sold on the soft defense.

Ten Teams That Stink

1) North Texas: If you aren't going to tackle anyone, why bother showing up?

2) Utah State: Many think they are the worst.

3) UTEP: Mike Price looks bad, like he's serving a prison sentence.

4) Baylor: They've been on this list so long, they may get a plaque.

5) Florida International: They're not just for Homecoming anymore; they're expanding into office picnics.

6) Army: Taking stink to a whole new level losing to UNH.

7) Syracuse: What exactly is going on there?

8) Maryland: Clueless defined.

9) San Diego State: Losses to Cal-Poly and Notre Dame on their resume.

10) San Jose State: Teams with graduation rates in the 30 percent range should be good, why aren't they?

Ten Teams That Don't Stink Anymore

1) Stanford: Downright respectable.

2) Temple: Not a gimme any longer.

3) Buffalo: They just cover and cover.

4) Duke: Cutcliffe has them looking prepared at least.

5) Vandy: What can I say about the Commodores?

6) East Carolina: More on them later.

7) Miami: The Canes look like they're on their way back.

8) Rice: Don't look now, but the Owls are 2-0.

9) Tulsa: A legit shot to run the table.

10) Northwestern: Good every 10 years or so; this may be that 10th year.

Ten Biggest Disappointments

1) Notre Dame: Doesn't look promising.

2) Clemson: How could they come out so flat?

3) Pittsburgh: If they drop the P-I-T-T-S-B-R that would leave UGH, sounds about right.

4) Texas A&M: Maybe RC Slocum wasn't so bad after all.

5) West Virginia: Doesn't look like Bill Stewart will get a National Title as a first year coach.

6) South Carolina: My 12-year-old nephew is better than any active QB on their roster.

7) Arkansas: I don't think this miracle escape continues this week.

8) Michigan State: Not what I expected at Berkeley.

9) Tennessee: Not the start they were hoping for.

10) Louisville: I really thought Kragthorpe was going to do more there.

Ten Best QBs:

1) Tim Tebow: Give him the Heisman now; he's that good.

2) Juice Williams: If he's as raw of a talent as they say, how good will he actually be?

3) Chase Daniel: I'd take him on my team.

4) Mark Sanchez: You can mark me down as saying he's better than Leinart.

5) Riley Skinner: Some may think this is too high but this guy doesn't make mistakes.

6) Sam Bradford: Best passing QB I've seen for the Sooners in my lifetime and that includes Troy Aikman's brief stint in Norman.

7) Mathew Stafford: Has really taken his game to another level.

8) Matt Grothe: See Riley Skinner.

9) Rudy Carpenter: Another Dennis Erickson-coached gunslinger.

10) Nate Davis: If he was on a more noteworthy team, he'd be higher.

Ten Biggest Surprises:

1) East Carolina: AD's across the nation are trying to figure out how to get them off of the future schedule.

2) The Clock rules haven't been too bad: Though we see the spread offense a lot more.

3) Almost all of the good games are on TV somewhere: Only missed on TTech-Nevada.

4) ESPN has finally joined in on bashing the officials: Better late than never.

5) Penn State: Maybe I'm the only one, but I am surprised.

6) Lee Corso isn't on my nerves yet: Yet.

7) I'm starting to appreciate Tim Tebow: I never thought I would say that about a Gator.

8) Colt McCoy: He's done a really nice job so far.

9) UCLA: I wasn't alone in thinking the Vols would take them pretty easily.

10) Cal: They have looked strong in both of their games.

Ten Best Coaching Jobs:

1) Skip Holtz: Beats two ranked teams with ECU.

2) Mike Belotti: Anyone can play QB and move the team.

3) Paul Johnson: Georgia Tech isn't bad.

4) Jim Grobe: They are just guys on the field, he's playing chess.

5) Turner Gill: Who would have thunk it?

6) Mark Richt: I've bashed this poor guy enough; he's keeping his team focused.

7) Joe Paterno: Why am I so surprised by anything this guy does?

8) Bobby Johnson: They haven't been to a bowl since 1982; could this be the year?

9) Rich Brooks: Many thought it was going to be a bad year; doesn't look that way.

10) Kyle Whittingham: Winning at The Big House is never easy, but he almost made it look that way.

Ten Games I Want To See

1) USC-Ohio State: Who says dreams don't come true?

2) USC-Florida: We'll see these players play each other someday, they call it the NFL Pro Bowl.

3) Texas-Georgia: Is this too much tradition?

4) Oregon-Texas Tech: A team that throws all day against a team that can cover all day.

5) South Carolina-Oregon State: This joke never gets old; think about it if you don't get it.

6) Oklahoma-Wisconsin: I can hear the collisions from here.

7) Utah State-North Texas State: Something has to give.

8) Penn State-Florida State: I just really enjoyed watching these two coaches interact last time they played.

9) East Carolina-New York Giants: The Pirates are pretty hot right now.

10) Oklahoma-Ohio State: Many people's choice for the title game.

Ten Coaches Whose Houses May Sell At Bargain Prices Soon:

1) Ralph Friedgen: Not looking good for the head turtle.

2) Tommy Bowden: He may just resign.

3) Dave Wannstedt: The rope isn't short, it's nonexistent.

4) Mike Price: He may not make it through the season.

5) Skip Holtz: Movin' on up?

6) Dick Tomey: Have you heard his Spartans stink?

7) Brent Guy: You can't cut the whole team.

8) Charlie Weis: Monster contract or not, this school can afford to eat it and move on.

9) Ty Willingham: Seems like such a good guy.

10) Joe Tiller: Thanks for your contributions to the game we love.

Top Ten Questions:

1) Is Tebow staying another year? He says he loves being a Gator.

2) Will they modify the celebration rules before the end of the season? They should.

3) Will the BCS work? My magic 8 ball says: It's Doubtful.

4) How bad will the officiating actually get? Every week they seem to reach a new low.

5) Who is No. 1? We may never really know.

6) Which coaches are leaving for the NFL?- I'm a huge Rich Brooks fan.

7) Is there a BCS buster out there? We may need a playoff to see who gets the chance.

8) Do Bobby and Joe retire?-I'm not sure, but they should go out together with identical records.

9) Who wins the Heisman? Not sure yet, but the guy who won last year is still in it.

10) Will they finally decide to have a playoff in the near future?- Doesn't look like it.
