New York Giants: Will They Wrestle Playoffs From Green Bay Packers at Lambeau?

Troy SparksDec 21, 2010

I heard a player from the New York Giants on ESPN pretty much guarantee a win up at Lambeau Field when they meet the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

If any of the Packers players heard that comment, it should be bulletin board material for them when they return to practice Wednesday.

Imagine for a minute that the Giants, who let the Philadelphia Eagles beat them at home, let their playoff chances slip away.  As of right now, they still have a wild card spot locked up.

The Packers let a golden opportunity slip away themselves.  They could've taken the inside track on the wild card.  They couldn't do anything about the Chicago Bears winning the NFC North title Monday night with Chicago's win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay, knowing that they need to win out to get in the postseason, can't let the Giants punk them in their own house.  Entering their final two home games, the Packers have a 23-17 record over the last five regular seasons.

You better believe that Aaron Rodgers will be back behind center.  He can't afford to let the back-up quarterback start another game, because, before you know it, that back-up will take his job away.

That "Lambeau Mystique" doesn't scare visiting teams anymore.  Any team feels it can go in there and beat the Packers, and some of those teams have.  The ghosts of Lombardi are gone.

The situation is simple:  Win and they're in.  Lose and they're out.  And if the Pack lose out, some of the coaches are also out of there.  If that happens, maybe I can be there to walk the coaches out the door of 1265 Lambeau Av.
