Tim Tebow: What We Learned About Him As A Starting QB

Tom EdringtonDec 20, 2010

Tim Tebow is cold pizza.

Doesn't sound all that great unless you're hungry and when you're hungry, it's still pretty good.

Yes, the Broncos lost another game on Sunday, they were squashed by the Raiders, but you certainly can't blame Tebow for this latest Denver disaster.

Tebow wasn't on the field when Jacoby Ford went for 71 yards on Oakland's first play from scrimmage, a play that would foreshadow the defensive nightmare and would turn out to be a 39-23 loss for Denver.

While the defense seemed unwilling, we learned that Tebow is who we thought he is.

Tebow was a gamer; he was out there giving it his best shot.

Tebow certainly looked more comfortable running than passing—what a surprise.

The big guy even admitted that nifty 40-yard quarterback draw he scored on was a busted play. "I was supposed to hand it to Buck (Buckhalter) and I ran it," said Tebow, who cannot tell a lie. "It ended up working."

Tebow ended up with a quarterback rating of 100, he completed half his passes, 8-of-16 for 138 yards. He is who we thought he is as a passer. He had that one 33-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Lloyd that he seemed to throw up for grabs and he had another one dropped.

As a runner, there were no Tebow surprises.

Tebow, that wonderful slice of cold pizza in the morning came up with this gem from the Tebow Book of Revelations:

"You're playing against the biggest, strongest and fastest but at the end of the day, it's still playing football and so it wasn't extremely difficult."

The offensive gospel according to Tebow.

There will two more verses written over the next two weeks. All indications point to the fact that Tebow will remain the starter for Denver's final two games, both at home, Houston's up next then the finale against San Diego.

The evaluation of Tebow will continue. With a new coach looming on the horizon, decisions will have to be made as to Tebow's future with Denver.

But for now, the helm is his.

It's something for Denver fans to nibble on.

Even if it is just cold pizza.
