Fantasy Football Week 16 NFL Waiver Wire Advice: Get 'Em or Don't Sweat 'Em
There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
Rex Grossman, QB, Washington Redskins
I guess the Rex jokes can stop after he lit up Dallas for 322 yards and four touchdowns. Despite the pair of picks he threw, Rex is a decent play next week against Jacksonville.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Josh Freeman, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Freeman threw for 251 yards and a touchdown. He added 29 yards on the ground. He now has 18 touchdowns with just six interceptions and is a good option next week against Seattle.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Colt McCoy, QB, Cleveland Browns
McCoy threw for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Bengals. With Baltimore on deck, and Pittsburgh in the hole for leagues that play out the whole Seton, McCoy is simply not an option.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Kerry Collins, QB, Tennessee Titans
Collins had a solid game throwing for 237 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He’s got five touchdown passes in his past two games, but isn’t a great option next week against the Chiefs.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Tebow threw for 138 yards and a touchdown and ran for 78 and another score. He has an intriguing matchup next week against Houston, but I don’t have confidence in him.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Maurice Morris, RB, Detroit Lions
Morris ran for 109 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He added three catches for ten yards. His matchup next week against Miami isn’t great, but he’s a decent bet if you need a running back.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Tashard Choice, RB, Dallas Cowboys
I expected Choice to bounce back, and he delivered with 84 total yards (53 rushing, 31 receiving) and a touchdown. He’s a decent flex play next week against Arizona.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Donald Brown, RB, Indianapolis Colts
Brown ran for 129 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown. He also caught a pass for four yards. With Oakland on deck, it looks like Brown is finally justifying that high draft slot.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Marcel Reece, RB, Oakland Raiders
Reece ran for nine yards on three carries and added 79 yards and a touchdown on two catches. He has a little more appeal in PPR leagues, but isn’t a player I’d rely on.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Mike Sims Walker, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
MSW also caught a pair of touchdowns. Overall he had four catches for 42 yards. He’s scored in consecutive weeks and now looks like a decent play against the Redskins in Week 16.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Anthony Armstrong, WR, Washington Redskins
Armstrong caught five passes for 100 yards against the Cowboys. He’s averaging five catches for 75.7 yards in his past three games, and is a decent play next week against the Jags.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
Jacoby Ford, WR, Oakland Raiders
Ford had a 71-yard touchdown run and caught three passes for 47 yards. He’s shown some big play ability, but I don’t love him next week against the Colts.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Brian Robiskie, WR, Cleveland Browns
Robiskie caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. As for his fantasy prospects going forward, see Colt McCoy.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Andre Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
With T.O. (knee) hurt and Ocho irrelevant Caldwell caught four passes for 89 yards. The Bengals face San Diego next week, which seals his fantasy fate.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
David Nelson, WR, Buffalo Bills
Nelson caught three passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. It was his third straight game with a score. I just can’t bring myself to endorse him against the Patriots next week.
Ruling: Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Jimmy Graham, TE, New Orleans Saints
Graham caught five passes for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Baltimore, who struggles against tight ends. He’s a good bet against Atlanta next week too.
Ruling: Get ‘em.
