Buffalo Bills Win Over Miami Dolphins: A Pictorial Overview Stocking Stuffer
Thanks to the great photographers at Buffalo Bills.com and at The Bleacher Report, we are presenting Bills fans with an early Christmas present. This is a slideshow that is heavy on the pictures, but light on analysis. The reverse article was cranked out last night, if you are seeking more details about the win.
Just another chance to share in the big moments of the game yesterday and to savor the big win, as it is always satisfying when the Bills Squish The Fish.
It was clearly satisfying to Ralph Wilson and Buddy Nix. They are all smiles after the game.
Enjoy the recap in slides.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Is Off to the Races
1 of 25
One more of the patented Ryan Fitzpatrick scrambles. When his guys are covered, and you give him enough green grass in front of him, he has no problem in tucking away the ball and taking off.
David Nelson Catches a Touchdown Pass in Third Straight Game
2 of 25
Bills rookie wide receiver David Nelson celebrates his third straight game with a touchdown catch. This second quarter catch came on third down and goal to go from the 18-yard line. Great throw by Ryan Fitzpatrick by the way.
David Nelson Used To Be a Juggler
3 of 25
It may not seem like he is going to catch this pass, but this was part of the sequence of a juggling catch that David Nelson made in the second quarter against the Dolphins. After the catch he ran the ball down to the five-yard line. From there the Bills went backwards to the 18, when Ryan Fitzpatrick threw him the touchdown pass. I would say that he filled in very nicely for Lee Evans.
Alex Carrington Gets More Involved in Defense
4 of 25
Alex Carrington has benefited by the season-ending injury to Dwan Edwards, as it resulted in him seeing more playing time. The third round draft pick has been getting some heat on the passer, here coming in to put a lick on Chad Henne. Nice to see him produce when given the chance to play.
Chris Kelsay Extra Effort Leads to First Bills Turnover
5 of 25
It is often said that football is a game of inches. If Chris Kelsay does not strain himself to extend his arm out to reach the football, George Wilson would never had come up with his interception. There is no statistic for a tip of the ball, but Bills players know the importance of Kelsay's extra effort.
George Wilson Makes Big Interception Against Dolphins
6 of 25
This is the first of a mini-run of slides dedicated to one of the Bills' team captains, George Wilson. Here George steps in front of a Chad Henne pass, when Chris Kelsay reached out to tip the ball while Henne was preparing to release the pass. This was a key moment in the game.
George Wilson Returns Upfield after the Pick
7 of 25
After George Wilson made the interception, he broke the initial tackler, and began heading up the field. He gets a big block here from Kyle Williams, which is one of the many little things that Williams does to help his team.
George Wilson Earns Rave Reviews from Defense
8 of 25
The Bills defense has not had the chance to celebrate that many interceptions this season, so when they do, they like to make the moment linger a little bit.
George Wilson: Do You Like the Pose?
9 of 25
Then of course after the pick, there is the obligatory posing that is needed for the cameras. By George, I think he's got it!
George Wilson To Miami Fans: How Do You Like Me So Far?
10 of 25
Finally, George Wilson asks the Miami Dolphins fans for their reaction, and instead is met with deafening silence. This play made Dolphins fans sick. It almost made their skin turn green, it was such a sickening play.
I Can't Bear To Watch
11 of 25
To think that Dolphins fans risk all of this skin poisoning to paint up their bodies and turn out Sunday after Sunday to watch one home loss after another. Oh, that isn't actually paint?
Kyle Williams Continues To Dominate the Line of Scrimmage
12 of 25
It doesn't matter what dirty tactics the opposition tries to use to slow him down. Kyle Williams is on a mission. Here he almost loses his face and then his head, but he is still determined to get to Chad Henne anyway.
On one play, he bullrushed the Dolphins and stopped the running back for an eight-yard loss on a dive play. Brilliant!
Naaman Roosevelt Makes His First NFL Catch
13 of 25
Finally given a chance to play, Naaman Roosevelt made two nice catches along the sidelines. Here he is celebrating his first catch in a NFL game. Way to go Naaman, you made all your followers proud today.
Donald Jones Makes Tough Catch Along the Sideline
14 of 25
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw up this pass along the sidelines, letting Donald Jones have a chance to make a play on the ball. Jones did, as he made a great catch for nearly a 30-yard gain.
Later on, Jones would drop a pass when he was all alone, just proving that there is sometimes no rhyme and reason for why guys make some tough plays look easy, and vice versa.
Steve Johnson Wears Stretch Pants
15 of 25
Not sure exactly what Steve Johnson wears underneath his jersey pants, but it was there on display to the Dolphins bench when a Dolphins defender grabs ahold of Johnson's pants and won't let go.
Why So Serious Steve? You can now laugh about your own version of Moon Over Miami.
Bills Watch One Carpenter Miss After Another
16 of 25
Every time Dan Carpenter lined up for a field goal, both teams turned to watch the flight of the ball to see if it was going to be good or not. Here, Paul Posluszny shows that he is capable of being an NFL referee as he signals that Carpenter has missed another kick.
The Bills had lots of practice at doing this all day long.
Tough Physical Game That Was Rough Sledding for Running Backs
17 of 25
Fred Jackson was only able to manage 36 yards in rushing. Here he finds a hole to run through thanks to blocks by Eric Wood and Andy Levitre. Notice how Wood is taking an elbow to the chops? This duo continues to play quality football on the offensive line game in and game out.
Sack Master Arthur Moats
18 of 25
Arthur Moats came up with one and a half sacks against the Dolphins. He is the first Buffalo Bills rookie to record solo sacks in consecutive games since 1988. Thanks to Chris Brown at Buffalo Bills.com for that interesting little tidbit. Moats continues to impress. His high motor and athletic play makes it hard to imagine he was still sitting there in the sixth round.
Bills Do Their Best To Block Carpenter Field Goal Tries
19 of 25
Although they never blocked one of Dan Carpenter's field goal tries, the Bills did everything they could do disrupt his rhythm. Here they line up to try to block a kick when the game was on the line, which it literally was.
Chan Gailey Was Pumped Up about the Win
20 of 25
Chan Gailey was doing lots of fist bumping on the sidelines after a number of outstanding plays turned in against the Dolphins. During the postgame press conference, you could tell by the way that Gailey was beaming that he was truly excited about his first win in the AFC East division as head coach of the Bills.
C.J. Spiller Came Very Close To Breaking Off a Punt Return to the House
21 of 25
C.J. Spiller had a very respectable game Sunday. On a punt return, he deftly took the ball up the sidelines and made a number of Dolphins special teams players miss his with some nimble moves, using his speed and balance to pick up 30 yards. His return set up the Rian Lindell field goal. Way to go C.J.!
Rian Lindell 1-1; Dan Carpenter 0-4
22 of 25
Rian Lindell was on his game Sunday, and Dan Carpenter was not. Not much else to say except that we know what it is like to be on the other side of this equation as well.
Chris Kelsay Seems Like a Reborn Player
23 of 25
Watching Chris Kelsay play now, compared to the Kelsay we saw in the first six weeks, he looks like a completely different player. We did our fair share of bashing him backing then, but if you were watching the same games I was, could you blame me? Now, we have to give credit where it is due, and Kelsay has been playing better over the past month to month and a half. Guess he is now comfortable in the new defense.
Ryan "The Gunslinger" Fitzpatrick
24 of 25
It was one thing to see the end result of the David Nelson TD catch. It was another to watch the play showed again on replay, when Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a pass that literally just cleared the top of the Dolphins helmet and into the waiting arms of David Nelson. Sometimes Fitzpatrick makes some throws that make you scratch your head, but he also makes some throws that take a lot of guts to throw.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has confidence and he is not afraid for his receivers to make a play on the ball. I wonder if he has ever read the epic saga by Stephen King called, "The Gunslinger," because he plays like one.
Corey McIntyre Is Really Count Dracula
25 of 25
Check out those fangs on Corey McIntyre. He is all smiles after the hard fought win. It looks like he is ready for steak in the postgame meal, not tuna fish.
So there you have it, 25 slides to celebrate the Bills first win in the AFC East this season.
Happy Holidays, Bills fans.
