Seattle Seahawks Have To Pull the Plug on Matt Hasselbeck
Seattle has to pull the plug on Matt Hasselbeck. He is no longer the answer. You can thank him for getting the Seahawks to the Super Bowl and for putting butts in the seats in Seattle, but since 2007 his talent level has fallen off the map. Touchdown passes are few and far between, while interceptions seem to flow like adult beverages at the Catalina Wine Mixer.
Hasselbeck was mercifully benched by head coach Pete Carroll today after another multi-pick day (he's thrown 10 in the last four games).
It is beyond safe to say that he has lost his ability to throw the football and no longer possesses the mental and physical tools to compete week in and week out in the NFL. Even in the worst division in the history of the NFL (a win percentage of 32 since the division was re-created in 2001) he has struggled.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Matt Hasselbeck is done being a serviceable quarterback in the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks have to move on. If they want to see the playoffs again (sadly, they might see them anyway by default and be blown out by 45 points in the first round at home) they are going to have to cut ties with him and they are extremely lucky that this is a contract year so that it’ll be as simple as not resigning him.
Hopefully Matt won’t try to keep playing, I’m sure Holmgren will take a look at him in Cleveland and there might be another team in the NFL that would take a look at him depending on how the draft shakes out.
Minnesota could use another over the hill QB. Tavaris Jackson and Joe Webb are probably not the answer there. Bet they wish they held on to John David Booty.
Is Charlie Whitehurst the answer in Seattle?
Probably not, but you can’t fault the effort of Clipboard Jesus. He goes out there and tries, he just doesn’t have the overall talent to make it.
There really isn’t going to be any help at the position in the draft. Andrew Luck, Ryan Mallett and Blaine Gabbert will be long gone by the time the Seahawks pick in the middle of the draft. If they wanted they could probably land Jake Locker in the later rounds.
Locker should be available to almost anyone after probably the worst season by a preseason Heisman candidate.
Still, that doesn’t solve the issue.
Who will play quarterback for the Seahawks next season?
Might as well bring out the walking dead and just sign Hasselbeck for one more season and hope the 2012 NFL Draft is more favorable.
