NFL Predictions: Which Rookie QB Will Be the Biggest Week 15 Star?
In our NFL predictions, we're taking a look at rookie quarterbacks. They're always fun to keep tabs on and it's interesting to see how they're progressing. Today we have six rookies playing under center.
With that in mind, we have ranked them by who we think will be the most successful today. If you agree or disagree, make sure to leave it in the comments.
Who do you think will have the best day under center?
No. 6: Joe Webb
1 of 6
Sorry Joe Webb, but today is not your day.
If we've learned anything from the Curious Case of Rusty Smith, it's that sixth-round rookie quarterbacks don't fare well in their first starts. It also doesn't help that Webb isn't really that strong of a quarterback and was almost a wide receiver.
Not only that, but he has to take on the Chicago defense in freezing temperatures. Best of luck to him, but he's got almost no chance to succeed.
No. 5: Jimmy Clausen
2 of 6
Steve Smith is right: Jimmy Clausen isn't in Notre Dame anymore.
That's painfully clear as the rookie has struggled mightily this year during his playing time. There were question marks around him coming out of college and it's clear why now. Carolina could end up with Andrew Luck after the draft and that would be the end of Clausen.
I don't see him doing well at all today.
No. 4: Tim Tebow
3 of 6
It's Tim Tebow's first NFL start, and I don't really have high expectations for him.
He's going to make mistakes and he's going to rely on his legs a lot more than his arm, and I think the Raiders are going to take advantage of that. Tebow won't be brutal under center, but he's not going to be a revelation either.
Look for him to struggle in his first start. But he will get better.
No. 3: John Skelton
4 of 6
I know people outside of Arizona might be asking who in the world John Skelton is, but he will be starting for the Cardinals today.
I think he'll play well against a weak Carolina team that is shooting for the top pick in next spring's draft. Plus he has Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston to throw to and Tim Hightower out of the backfield. That's going to help him out more than most rookie quarterbacks.
It won't be pretty, but it won't be a nightmare for Skelton either.
No. 2: Sam Bradford
5 of 6
I just can't bet against Sam Bradford.
Yes, he doesn't have a lot of targets to throw to and Kansas City's defense is pretty stout, but he's got that X-factor that helps him make plays and keep the Rams in this game.
He's the rookie of the year by far.
No. 1: Colt McCoy
6 of 6
Colt McCoy is another quarterback who has a lot of poise and has made plays this year, but this ranking is more about his matchup.
McCoy is going against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that is just a dumpster fire at this point. Carson Palmer is a wreck, and they'd have the second pick in the draft if the season ended today. That's pathetic for a team that had Super Bowl hopes.
Look for McCoy to lead the offense up and down the field against Cincinnati and make plays after shaking off some early rust.
