TNA Impact! Rating: A Slow Rise

Daniel PeragineDec 19, 2010

This past week's edition of TNA Impact! scored a 1.12 rating, slightly up again from last week's number.  The first hour drew a 1.14, while the second notched in a 1.10.

For the quarter hour ratings, Impact! started off on average with a 1.13 rating for the opening talk segment between Matt Mordan, Mr. Anderson and Jeff Hardy.  After dropping to a 1.08 in quarter two for the X Division match between Robbie E and Jay Lethal, Impact! began to increase.  Eventually, the show peaked to a 1.23 rating which featured Generation Me versus Orlando Jordan and Eric Young, alongside with the first half of Miss Tessmacher and Mickie James against Tara and Madison Rayne.

However, that increase would not hold.  Impact! bottomed out at a 1.03 rating which featured Rob Van Dam versus Rob Terry.  However, Jeff Jarrett's MMA run has seemed to help bring ratings back up slightly and that scored a 1.10.  In the main event tag match between Mr. Anderson and Matt Morgan versus Jeff Hardy and Kazarian, Impact! maintained its 1.10 score.

PERAGINE'S THOUGHTS

Overall, this Impact! show was pretty decent to watch.  TNA is very slowly creeping up on the ratings since its Thanksgiving rating.  However, it must be consistent with keeping viewers watching their product.

This week, we did not see Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair and just segments of Eric Bischoff backstage, which was perfectly fine.  It's good to have big name stars at times off the camera and let some younger talent have their moment, such as Jay Lethal capturing the X Division title.

It'll be interesting to see next week how TNA does considering the Holidays are here.  TNA has been averaging between a 1.1-1.2 since moving back to Thursday nights, with some occasional 1.3 and 1.4s.  As long as they continue to produce quality Impact! episodes, it will help them go forward in 2011.
