Jake Locker is Unsportsmanlike?

Kevin CacabelosSep 6, 2008
WHAT A RIP OFF! That's so ridiculous. In a game that was competitive and exciting, it's sad to see it tainted by if anything, a questionable call. Referees should not make calls that affect the outcome of the game, especially if there is two seconds left in regulation.
Jake Locker put it perfectly at the end when he apologized for being "too emotional." This guy plays the game with passion. He deserves player of the game, but instead that award goes to the zebras today.

  • That was the best second half of football I've ever seen the Huskies play in the past five years. They stuck it through and were able to stay in the game against a solid BYU team. Although I didn't see extreme or significant half-time adjustments, the coaches did stick with what was working, and the players were able to execute enough to stay in the game.
  • The rushing game was kind of good and kind of bad. Chris Polk only carried the ball six times in the whole game compared to 14 carries last week against Oregon. In those six carries, he accumulated 29 yards for 4.8 yards per carry. This isn't bad, but, the coaching staff has realized that they simply just can't depend on the running game. The good part was Jake Locker, for obvious reasons...
  • Home games do make a difference, don't they? Although this team has failed to make a bowl game since 2002, loyal Husky fans, students and alumni continue to fill the seats at Husky Stadium and support their Dawgs. Non-conference foes are almost always rattled when they set foot out of that tunnel. Let's pack the stands against Oklahoma!
  • On the outside looking in, Jake Locker was horrendously inaccurate during crunch time and throughout the game. However, Locker improved his passing percentage from 42 percent to a 53 percent mark by going 17-32. During those three straight incompletes; bad route-running, throwing on the run, and bad communication can be blamed. As always he was spectacular on the ground, rushing for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Ty Willingham should keep his job, at least for this season. I take back saying this game was a must-win, but it was a "don't get blown-out or you're fired" kind of situation. The coaching staff did a great job preparing this team for a tough BYU game and I think the Dawgs will surprise a lot of people come next Saturday against Oklahoma.
Negatives
  • Coverage was horrible, wasn't able to stop BYU offense on third and longs.
  • Hearing fans blame the coaches for every single little mistake.
  • Sparkle residue left on the field in the 2nd half from the drum group, SLAMM..(They were entertaining though)
  • Kickoff distance...BYU was catching the ball at their 20 yard line most of the time..that's not good..

UNSUNG HERO OF THE DAY: JARED BALLMAN-Punter..This guy gave the Husky defense a lot to work with by pinning BYU's offense inside the 20, three out of five times. He averaged 47.4 yards per punt..that's beastly in the punter world.

What's your verdict on the Jack Locker celebration controversy?
