Fantasy Football NFL Week 15: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Advice

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballDec 18, 2010

Wondering who you should start and sit in Week 15 of the fantasy football season? Take a look at our recommended starts and sits to find out.

POTENTIAL RB SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK

Javarris James (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Jacksonville

James had 17 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14, and has now scored three touchdowns over the last two games.

Injuries around him in the Colts’ backfield could lead to a similar workload in Week 15 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, even if he splits carries with Donald Brown.

The Jaguars have allowed 15 total touchdowns to opposing running backs this season and have surrendered double-digit fantasy points to the position in all but two games this season.

James is clearly at least the Colts’ goal line running back at this point, and if he gets 15-20 carries again that obviously only helps his fantasy potential.  His scoring potential alone makes him a solid potential flex play this week if you have a need.

POTENTIAL WR SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK

Louis Murphy (Oakland Raiders) vs. Denver

Murphy had six receptions (on 11 targets) for 59 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. Also, he scored for the first time since Week 2 and had his highest catch total since that week as well.

Murphy does have 15 catches over the last four games, and with quarterback Jason Campbell playing well he could have another strong game against the Denver Broncos this week.

The Broncos have allowed 19.5 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and the only game over the last five they have not allowed double-digit fantasy points to the position was in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Murphy should see enough targets and catches to be fantasy relevant in deeper leagues this week, and he has solid potential to find the end zone as well.

QUARTERBACKS: SIT ‘EM

Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) at Pittsburgh

Things have started to go south recently for the New York Jets offense, and a lot of those problems lead back to quarterback Mark Sanchez.

In his last three games, Sanchez has thrown one touchdown and five interceptions with the Jets losing two of those games. Plus, the Jets have scored just 18 points in their last three games combined.

This week Sanchez faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that forced two pick-sixes from the Cincinnati Bengals last week, and one that has forced nine turnovers and allowed just three passing touchdowns in the last four weeks.

Don’t expect Sanchez and the Jets’ woes to turnaround this weekend.

RUNNING BACKS: SIT ‘EM

Thomas Jones (Kansas City Chiefs) at St. Louis Rams

Aside from scoring two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11, Kansas City Chiefs running back Thomas Jones has done nothing in his last seven games.

Last week he rushed three times and gained only one yard. His production has dropped off but he’s also been used inconsistently by the Chiefs, and that hurts his fantasy value.

Plus, the status of quarterback Matt Cassel (appendectomy) for this week’s game is uncertain. Cassel sat out last week and the Chiefs were unable to do anything on offense.

Jones has little value even if Cassel does play, and if he doesn’t play then Jones isn’t worth consideration even in deep leagues.
