Is the Pittsburgh Penguins' Two-Loss Streak the Best Thing To Happen to Them?
This time last week, Penguins fans were riding on a wave of wins. This week, the team who won 12 in a row has been brought back down to the level of all other teams. Or have they?
The game against the Flyers was a battle of the two best teams in the league with the teams being ranked one-two in the league. The Flyers were coming in with an advantage over the Penguins, winning four of the five games they had played against their cross state rivals this season, including a very physical game in their last meeting.
The Flyers had been on a hot streak of their own, coming into the game with a two game winning streak. The 3-2 win over the Penguins helped them take over the No. 1 spot in the league and extend their winning streak to three games.

The Pens second loss was to the team they last lost to in overtime on November 15. The Rangers were riding a 7-0 win against the Capitals, a definite confidence booster for the team that helped them take down the Pens.
While breaking the win streak was a real downer, losing to two teams that are ranked in the top five in the league isn’t as sore of a spot as losing to one of the lower ranked teams. The two losses sets the team up for another string of wins that should carry them in to the Winter Classic in good shape.
So while a two game losing streak may seem bad now after being so dominate over the last month, it may be the best thing that has happened to the Pens this season. Expect to see the winning team back in action on Monday against the Coyotes at home in the Consol Energy Center.
