Fantasy Football Week 15 Rankings: Wide Receiver Matchups To Exploit

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballDec 18, 2010

With your fantasy football season on the line, the time is now to make sure you are starting the perfect lineup.  Take a look at our wide receiver matchups to exploit to find out which guys you must start in Week 15.

Hakeem Nicks (New York Giants) vs. Philadelphia

Nicks didn’t appear to be slowed down at all on Monday, returning to the field after missing three games after being diagnosed with compartment syndrome.  He led the New York Giants with seven receptions for 96 yards against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Nicks was also tied for the team lead in targets (9).

The Philadelphia Eagles have allowed 18 fantasy points and 12 touchdowns to the wide receiver position.  Eli Manning’s favorite big play receiver should receive enough targets to make an impact in this game, especially because Steve Smith is limited because of a pectoral injury and Mario Manningham will be slowed down because of a hip flexor injury.

If you own Nicks, get him in your lineup and watch him produce like he did earlier in the season.

Kenny Britt (Tennessee Titans) vs. Houston

Britt had a modest first game back after missing four games with a torn hamstring. He accumulated four receptions for 39 yards. However, he lost a fumble in the first half of the Titans' loss to the Indianapolis Colts.  Britt didn’t show any ill effects from the injury and led the Tennessee receiving corps with eight targets.

The Houston Texans have been one of the worst teams defending wide receivers all season allowing an average of 25 fantasy points a game and 18 touchdowns to the position this season, which bodes well for Britt.  Britt also has a chance to make an impact in this game, because the Texans have the ability to put up a ton of points on the scoreboard.

If Houston gets off to a big lead early, Kerry Collins is sure to throw a ton of passes and a good majority will likely go in the dynamic Britt’s direction.  Look for Britt to improve upon his last game and use him as a low-end WR option.

Wes Welker (New England Patriots) vs. Green Bay

Continuing to make short men everywhere proud, Welker had eight receptions for 115 yards last week.  Welker led the team in targets (13), and now has 23 receptions for 285 yards and three touchdowns over the past three games.

The Green Bay Packers have been tough against the pass, allowing an average of 15 fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position.  However, the New England offense has demolished solid defensive clubs this season and Welker is one of the main reasons why.

Continue to start Welker, who has become one of the most consistent wide receivers lately.

Miles Austin (Dallas Cowboys) vs. Washington Redskins

Austin had two receptions for 22 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.  Jason Witten was Jon Kitna’s favorite target in the game and was on the receiving end of Kitna’s only two passing touchdowns.

Austin only has nine receptions for 94 yards over the last three games and appears to not have much value unless he’s being targeted in the red zone.

He has a chance to have another huge game against the Redskins, like in Week 1 (10 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown), and with Washington struggling against the pass we think Austin could help those who drafted him as their number-one WR.
