College Football: A Few More Picks for 9/6/08 and Some Line Moves
I might end up saying this every single week but College Football was meant to be played on Saturdays.
No we're not in Kansas anymore, whole new site over here, whole new url and all of that good stuff. We'll have plenty of time to talk about that as the weeks go on but it's Saturday and let's talk about gavel-to-gavel, all-day College Football.
Yesterday, I said there were some games I wouldn't touch and I also said there were games I was leaning one way or another. Well, the lines have moved and I'm moving as well and while of course all of my previous picks for this week are locked and loaded here's where I'm heading today.
Michigan State -21 vs. Eastern Michigan (Saturday 9/6/08, 12 EST) 1 Unit
I admit it, I liked this one all along but was afraid to get back on the horse with the Spartans after the uninspired performance last week in Berkeley. With the dawn of a new Saturday comes a renewed belief that coach Dantonio did enough in practice this week to remind the Spartans that the actual objective of the game is to win.
The public has less faith in the Michigan State as this line has dropped a full three points from 24. Eastern Michigan is also a miserable 2-7 against the spread when playing the Big Ten and 6-21 against the spread in their last 27 non conference games.
The Eagles are also 0-4 in their last four against the Spartans. Also in Michigan State's favor is the home team has covered the spread the last four times these teams have met and the Spartans are also 6-1 against the spread when playing a team with a winning record.
I really look for the home cooking to sit well with Michigan State today.
