Joel Huiqui With Monarcas De Morelia After Leaving Cruz Azul
Joel Huiqui was formally presented as part of Morelia Monarcas after Cruz Azul released him. The historical event occurred after months of negotiations between the two teams.
During the presentation, Huiqui announced that he was happy to be part of Monarcas and promised to make a positive contribution to the team.
I consider it an irony that he signed with Monarcas taking into account that accusations of his use of the hand in a game against the same team in 2009.
Monarcas of Morelia may have forgiven him since the team is in need of a defender of his calibre.
Huiqui was born in Los Mochis Mexico on Feb. 18, 1983. He started early in his career with Cruz Azul before being loaned to Pachuca.
He eventually returned to Cruz Azul, until the news of the trade with Monarcas of Morelia. Huiqui's record in the Mexican League is five goals within 144 games.
In the year 2003, Huiqui participated in the FIFA World Youth Championship held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) with the Mexican Youth Soccer Team.
The team never made it past the first rounds.
Huiqui began his international debut with Mexico in their first game against Guatemala in October 2005.
The participation of Huiqui with the Mexican National Soccer Team resulted in one goal within six games. He also had the misfortune of being left out of the 2006 FIFA World Cup for Mexico after a decision by its coach Ricardo La Volpe.
It remains to be seen what will transpire with this latest addition to the Monarcas of Morelia.
