Oakland Raiders: Multiple weapons, overload the system!

Raider Card AddictSep 5, 2008

Less than 3 days remain before the Raiders unveil their new toy....

Anyone else feel like it's almost Christmas?

Oakland, in an effort to both boost it's choices for scoring, and to give themselves another playmaker, picked up Darren McFadden on Draft Day, shocking some who felt it was a wasted pick.

Some people think we should have gone with Defensive help. After all, Warren Sapp had just retired.

Others felt trading down was an option. Possibly for a small pile of picks.

Both of these options didn't appeal to the Raiders. They were looking for a type of player, that can change a game. And as well, be a threat to score whenever he takes the handoff.

But, as well, McFadden could be a perfect decoy.

For example, if a handoff is coming, a team could simply flood the line. So, make them bite, and throw it over the middle to Miller.

How about using a reverse?

There are a lot of options this team can use. Sure, we might be looking light on the WR corps....but at the same time, this would be concerning, if we were say, the Dan Marino Dolphins in the 90s.

It's also amusing, that people like to look at pickups like Ashley Lelie as a bad choice.

A bad choice, would have been sticking with no extra pickups, and pretending we'll be ok. Also, did it dawn on any of these people that we've got Chaz Schillins and Todd Watkins out there? Sure, they have no receptions in their career. Know why?

Well, Chaz was just drafted this year. And Watkins has been on practice squads, waiting for his time to play.

Everyone starts out with zero receptions. Think about it a minute. It's the dumbest comment the media can make, concerning a football team.

Rookies have to start somewhere, in some game. They don't get to play a couple weeks during their college senior season(nice thought), but just like everyone else, they start out fresh, just like everyone else.

Another little fun item to throw out. A lot of people look at Johnnie Lee Higgins as a mistake, sticking around.

Anyone know who else was a returner/WR early in his career?

Hint, he finished his career with over 1000 receptions, and 100 TDs.

So, don't ride him too hard. Give him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe he'll surprise people. After all, the 49ers were surprised.

Lastly, anyone wanna guess how many trick plays the Raiders throw at the Broncos?

Kiffin's had his creative moments, things like onside kicks, rollouts, even trying for 4th downs....gutsy fellow. I'm still looking at Oakland causing 3 INTs, at least 3 sacks, and Cutler having a Rating below 60 by the time he's pulled.

After all....he's been pumped up by Shanahan's media machine....damaged egos are hard to repair.

Here's the the start of the Raiders new Era!
