Fantasy Football Week 15: 10 Starters Who Should Be Benched this Week

Tom KinslowDec 15, 2010

Fantasy football Week 15 is here and if you're still in the hunt in your league, congratulations! If you're in the consolation bracket, my condolences.

However, there's still pride to be played for and with that in mind, we're looking at 10 guys who need to be benched on your fantasy team this week. You don't want to get a goose egg thrown in your face in a big matchup, so tread carefully when setting your lineup.

If you have any questions about players to pick up or lineup decisions, leave them below and I'll be more than happy to answer them for you.

Good luck to everyone this week!

No. 10: Randy Moss

If you haven't given up on Randy Moss or already have, don't be tempted by the matchup against the Texans.

Jeff Fisher is such an utter and complete moron for his handling of Moss, it's mind-boggling. He can't even get Moss and Kenny Britt on the field at the same time. If I were Bud Adams, I'd fire him on the spot for that moronic move.

Moss will be a non-factor this Sunday. Bank on it.

No. 9: Brian Westbrook

If you're a Frank Gore owner or someone who scooped Brian Westbrook up on a whim, I wouldn't play him this week.

Sure, he's had two good games out of three, but San Diego has one of the best defenses in football and I think we'll see Westbrook—who's probably past his prime—struggle against the Chargers.

You can do much better than Westbrook in your playoff matchup.

No. 8: Dustin Keller

I remember when Dustin Keller used to be a valuable fantasy tight end. Those were good times.

As Mark Sanchez and the Jets offense has struggled, so has Keller, who has found himself phased out of the offense as players like Santonio Holmes find more of a role in New York's system.

Keller should rest firmly on your bench. There has to be a better option there.

No. 7: Visanthe Shiancoe

With Brett Favre out and the always unreliable Tarvaris Jackson possibly missing the game for the Vikings, just avoid anyone not named Adrian Peterson.

Minnesota's just a disaster of a team right now, and there's no way that Shiancoe can be productive in this game with who's around him and throwing him the ball. He used to be a fantasy force, but those days are gone for now.

There will be a better tight end option for you somewhere.

No. 6: Chad Henne

5 of 10

Oh Chad Henne, why can't Miami quit you?

Sure, the Dolphins were probably forced into starting you after Chad Pennington went down in the first series of a game against Tennessee, but that doesn't mean you're worth starting for anyone this week. Henne's just a mess to watch and he hasn't improved at all.

I think we're looking at a career backup.

No. 5: Matt Cassel

6 of 10
KANSAS CITY, MO - DECEMBER 05: Quarterback Matt Cassel #7 of the Kansas City Chiefs in action during the game against the Denver Broncos on December 5, 2010 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

I know Matt Cassel has been playing well as of late, but pardon me if I don't trust him right now.

He's coming off of a major surgery and I'm expecting him to be rusty. I don't expect to see him put up anything close to what he did the weeks before his procedure.

If you have to start him, you have no choice and I wish you luck, but if you can make any sort of move, I'd do it and fast.

I think we're due for a down week here.

No. 4: LaDainian Tomlinson

So much for that spry LaDianian Tomlinson that we saw earlier this year.

As the year has gone on, he's gotten less and less effective. He hasn't done much the last couple of games and it's time to stop relying on him to help carry your team, especially now that it's time for playoff matchups.

Cut bait with Tomlinson and find someone else on the waiver wire if you can.

No. 3: Larry Fitzgerald

8 of 10

Poor Larry Fitzgerald. It just isn't fair, is it?

Fitzgerald was a beast when he was catching passes from Kurt Warner, but now it's just a far cry from what it used to be and he's fallen off with no one to throw him the ball. Sure, he has a great matchup against Carolina, but I just don't trust his quarterbacks.

Play him at a flex spot if you must, but I'd stay away from him.

No. 2: Mark Sanchez

9 of 10
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - DECEMBER 12: Mark Sanchez #6 of the New York Jets against the Miami Dolphins at New Meadowlands Stadium on December 12, 2010 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)

Well, Mark Sanchez, it's been a fun ride, it really has.

It was all fine and good when you were throwing late touchdown passes and actually putting points up on the board, but now it's just sad. He looks awful out there and is making mistake after mistake under center.

Sanchez is going up against the Pittsburgh defense. To say he should be benched is an understatement.

No. 1: Sam Bradford

10 of 10

Sam Bradford is another quarterback that has struggled to find the end zone recently and against Kansas City, I'd be reluctant to play him.

The Chiefs have a solid defense and they're going to give Bradford and that offense trouble. And I think the Rams might rely more on Steven Jackson to get the ball up and down the field more than they do Bradford in this game.

He hasn't thrown a touchdown in a while and if you have a big matchup, I wouldn't want to rely on him.

Look elsewhere at the quarterback position this week.
